Cluster and multivariate analysis to study the diffuse contamination of emerging per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the Veneto Region plain (North-eastern Italy).

In recent years, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have emerged as major pollutants of concern. This study considered a real case of superficial and groundwater contamination caused by a set of 15 persistent, carcinogenic, and bioaccumulative compounds. The study area is the Veneto Region floodplain in Italy, where a huge contamination mainly caused by a persistent spill-over from a former chemical factory was discovered in 2013.

Subjective Symptoms in Magnetic Resonance Imaging Personnel: A Multi-Center Study in Italy.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) personnel have significant exposure to static and low-frequency time-varying magnetic fields. In these workers an increased prevalence of different subjective symptoms has been observed. The aim of our study was to investigate the prevalence of non-specific subjective symptoms and of "core symptoms" in a group of MRI personnel working in different centers in Italy, and of possible relationships with personal and occupational characteristics.

Reversible Akinetic Mutism after Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Haemorrhage in the Territory of the Anterior Cerebral Artery without Permanent Ischaemic Damage to Anterior Cingulate Gyri.

We report on two cases of transient akinetic mutism after massive subarachnoid haemorrhage due to the rupture of an intracranial aneurysm of the anterior cerebral artery (ACA). In the two cases, vasospasm could not be demonstrated by imaging studies throughout the clinical course. Both patients shared common radiological features: a hydrocephalus due to haemorrhagic contamination of the ventricular system and a mass effect of a subpial hematoma on the borders of the corpus callosum.

Biomarkers in immunonutrition programme, is there still a need for new ones? A brief review.

Background And Aims: Pre-existing malnutrition is one the most important factors affecting postsurgical complications, especially in cancer patients. The consequences of this on the immune function as well as on outcome could be reversed by immunonutrition. To help the clinician as a researcher, a routinely available biomarker (derived from clinical or biological data) would be of great importance.

Spontaneous Cervical Epidural Hematoma.

A 65-year-old woman was admitted to the emergency department for sudden onset of neck pain and dysesthesia of both upper limbs. The pain occurred spontaneously, without any history of recent trauma. Rapidly after her admission, she developed tetraparesia.

[Solar ultraviolet radiation risk in outdoor workers: a specific project of Tuscany Region (Italy)].

Objective: The aims of Tuscany Regional project were: to study the sun protection attitude of outdoor workers; to measure solar ultraviolet (UV) exposure in work environment; to describe the frequency of photoaging, precancerous lesions, and skin cancers in outdoor workers; to collect information on solar ultraviolet radiation exposure from incident cases of Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer (NMSC) recruited from Tuscany Cancer Registry.

Design: Outdoor workers completed a questionnaire devoted to collect information on sun protection attitudes during a typical summer working week. Environmental and personal measurements were carried out.

Background: Fiberoptic intubation is a core skill in anesthesiology. However, this complex psychomotor skill is challenging to learn in the clinical setting.
