Background: The long-chain omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) have beneficial effects in depression, and these effects may be mediated via changes in functional brain connectivity. However, little is known about these effects in those with subthreshold depression.
Methods: 15 Participants aged 18-29 years with Patient Health Questionnaire-8 (PHQ-8) scores ≥ 4 and Generalised Anxiety Disorder Assessment-7 (GAD-7) scores ≥ 5, underwent resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging.
White matter hyperintensities (WMH) of presumed vascular origin are a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based biomarker of cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD). WMH are associated with cognitive decline and increased risk of stroke and dementia, and are commonly observed in aging, vascular cognitive impairment, and neurodegenerative diseases. The reliable and rapid measurement of WMH in large-scale multisite clinical studies with heterogeneous patient populations remains challenging, where the diversity of imaging characteristics across studies adds additional complexity to this task.

Patients undergoing trigger release surgery are known to be at increased risk of amyloidosis and heart failure, and therefore, amyloidosis screening during trigger release surgery may facilitate early diagnosis and treatment of cardiac amyloidosis. However, the reported prevalence of amyloid on biopsies taken during trigger release surgery has varied widely, and no biopsy-positive patients in prior studies have been diagnosed with occult cardiac amyloidosis or started on disease-modifying therapy. We review the existing literature on this topic and present a case of a patient with cardiac amyloidosis diagnosed from a biopsy taken during trigger release surgery and subsequently started on disease-modifying therapy.

We executed a simple a screen using malachite green to detect compounds that decreased ATP hydrolysis and tested a library of diverse compounds to find inhibitors of CHIKV nsP2 helicase.

Most notably, this work demonstrates the first application of MgO as a protection/passivation layer for photocathodes in a water-splitting cell. All configurations of photocathodes were studied structurally, morphologically, and photoelectrochemically revealing that CuO|CuBiO|MgO|Pt photocathodes achieve the highest stable photocurrent densities of -200 μA cm for over 3 hours with a Faradaic efficiency of ∼90%.

Introduction/objectives: Obesity data is typically obtained from national population surveys, while the use of more accurate electronic medical record (EMR) data is underutilized. The objective of this study is to calculate current obesity prevalence and weight trends using EMR data and compare the results to prior survey-based obesity prevalence projections for the state.
Methods: This retrospective study analyzed Body Mass Index (BMI) from deidentified EMR data from 16,491 adult patients in urban midwestern primary care clinics between January 2017 and October 2021 for obesity prevalence and weight trajectories, stratified by age and gender.
Emerging research has highlighted potential associations between micro-transaction use and problematic videogame and gambling behaviour. An increasingly prominent theory highlights that self-determined motivations and basic psychological needs may play crucial roles in the development of problematic videogame and gambling behaviour. However, literature discussing the role that micro-transaction use has in this relationship is scarce.

Methods: An international environmental scan of online decision aids, with no language restriction, was conducted by searching aids in the recent Cochrane review and 35 online sources. Aid characteristics were extracted and analysed.
The CACHE challenges are a series of prospective benchmarking exercises to evaluate progress in the field of computational hit-finding. Here we report the results of the inaugural CACHE challenge in which 23 computational teams each selected up to 100 commercially available compounds that they predicted would bind to the WDR domain of the Parkinson's disease target LRRK2, a domain with no known ligand and only an apo structure in the PDB. The lack of known binding data and presumably low druggability of the target is a challenge to computational hit finding methods.

Here we present a systematic approach to scale up the discovery and characterization of small molecule ligands for the WD40 repeat (WDR) protein family. We developed a comprehensive suite of protocols for protein production, crystallography, and biophysical, biochemical, and cellular assays.

Two-photon patterned photostimulation has taken this further by allowing interrogation at the individual neuron level. However, it remains a challenge to implement imaging of neural activity with spatially patterned two-photon photostimulation in a freely moving animal.

Objective: To evaluate the impact of the CTH intervention on total drug overdose deaths and overdose deaths involving combinations of opioids with psychostimulants or benzodiazepines.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This randomized clinical trial was a parallel-arm, multisite, community-randomized, open, and waitlisted controlled comparison trial of communities in 4 US states between 2020 and 2023.

In contrast with syntactic accounts, the Focus-Background Conflict constraint predicts differential behavior across different constructions.

There are limited data on differences in colorectal cancer (CRC) surveillance by MMR genes, and an international consensus on surveillance based on genes is not established. We aimed to evaluate colonoscopy and esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) surveillance outcomes and compare CRC surveillance findings by the mutated gene.

Experimentally, size effects are well-established and are manifested through changes to catalyst selectivity, activity and durability. Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations have provided an attractive way to study these effects and rationalise the change in nanoparticle properties.

Whereas principles of communicative efficiency and legal doctrine dictate that laws be comprehensible to the common world, empirical evidence suggests legal documents are largely incomprehensible to lawyers and laypeople alike. Here, a corpus analysis ( = 59) million words) first replicated and extended prior work revealing laws to contain strikingly higher rates of complex syntactic structures relative to six baseline genres of English. Next, two preregistered text generation experiments ( = 286) tested two leading hypotheses regarding how these complex structures enter into legal documents in the first place.

Methods And Materials: Six different nnU-Net systems with adaptive data sampling, adaptive Dice loss, or different patch/batch sizes were trained and tested for detecting and segmenting intraparenchymal BM with a size ≥2 mm on 3 Dimensional (3D) post-Gd T1-weighted MRI volumes using 2092 patients from 7 institutions (1712, 195, and 185 patients for training, validation, and testing, respectively). Gross tumor volumes of BM delineated by physicians for stereotactic radiosurgery were collected retrospectively and curated at each institute.
