Aim: The objective of the present study was to evaluate the influence of different adhesive strategies regarding shear bond strength (SBS) of provisional resin--based materials bonded to the enamel surface as well as on the enamel surface roughness.
Materials And Methods: Bovine incisors were randomly divided into six groups (n = 10) according to the adhesive strategy used: BRControl (bis-acrylic resin); Spot-etch+BR (spot-etch + bis-acrylic resin); Spot--etchSB2+BR (spot-etch + adhesive + bis-acrylic resin); Spot-etchZ350Flow+BR (spot-etch + flowable composite resin + bis-acrylic resin); SBU+BR (universal adhesive + bis-acrylic resin); Spot-etchSBMP+Z350 (spot-etch + adhesive + composite resin). The enamel surface roughness was determined by a surface profil-ometer.
Objective: Secondary caries lesions adjacent to restorations, a leading cause of restoration failure, require accurate diagnostic methods to ensure an optimal treatment outcome. Traditional diagnostic strategies rely on visual inspection complemented by radiographs. Recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), particularly deep learning, provide potential improvements in caries detection.

Methods: Self-healing capsules containing different monomers and polymerization modulators were prepared by emulsion polymerization: TC (TEGDMA and DHEPT), BTC (Bis-GMA, TEGDMA, and DHEPT), and BTC (Bis-GMA, TEGDMA, and BPO). The capsules were analyzed through Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy.
Purpose: To evaluate the effects of pretreatment with different crosslinking agents on glass-fiber-post adhesive luting.
Materials And Methods: Single-rooted human teeth (n = 20) were randomly assigned to four groups: proanthocyanidins (PA) from grape-seed extract, cardol and cardanol (separated from cashew nut-shell liquid) and negative control (hydroethanolic solution). The solutions were applied on 37% phosphoric acid-etched dentin for 60 s.

Objectives: To assess and compare the pharmacological effect of different drugs on pain relief after periodontal surgery.
Materials And Methods: Five databases were searched up to September 2019. The eligible studies comprised randomized clinical trials, involving only adult individuals that received any periodontal surgery and presenting two distinct groups of therapeutic regimens to control postoperative pain.
This study assessed bibliometric characteristics of all articles published in Brazilian Dental Journal (BDJ) in its 30 years of existence (1990-2019) and factors associated with citation rates. A document search was carried out in Scopus in December, 2019 and information about the articles were exported, including citations. Type of study and main subject in each article were categorized.

The patient reported discomfort when smiling due to excessive gingival exposure, and clinical and photographic examinations of the patient showed vertical maxillary growth as the main diagnosis. In the digital smile design, the possibility of crown lengthening observed for teeth - upper left and right central incisors and upper left lateral incisor.

Despite its good biologic properties, some clinicians still claim to have difficulties in handling MTA after its preparation due to its sandy consistency. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the physicochemical properties and cytotoxicity of MTA Repair HP (Angelus, Londrina, PR, Brazil) compared with MTA Angelus (Angelus, Londrina, PR, Brazil).

Adhesive resins were formulated using Bis-GMA, TEGDMA, HEMA, camphorquinone and different co-initiators: BDO, PA or ethyl 4-dimethylamino benzoate (EDAB - amine). An experimental self-etch primer was used to complete the two-step, self-etch adhesive system.

Methods: PipM was synthetized through an esterification reaction and characterized by FTIR and H NMR spectroscopy. Adhesive resins containing camphorquinone as photoinitiator and PipM or ethyl-4-dimethyl amine benzoate (EDAB) as coinitiators were formulated.

Objective: This study evaluated the effects of adhesive type used as modeling liquid on the stability of the color and opacity of composites submitted to thermal cycling in staining solutions followed by a bleaching procedure.
Methods: Thirty cylinder-shaped composite specimens (10 mm diameter × 1.5 mm thickness) were built using or not using (control) an adhesive (Adper Universal or Scotchbond Multipurpose) as the modeling liquid.
Objective: A systematic review was conducted to analyze Brazilian scientific and technological production related to the dental materials field over the past 50 years.
Material And Methods: This study followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (Prisma) statement. Searches were performed until December 2014 in six databases: MedLine (PubMed), Scopus, LILACS, IBECS, BBO, and the Cochrane Library.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to synthesize an alternative acidic monomer (polypropylene glycol phosphate methacrylate--Poly-P) to constitute experimental two-step self-etch adhesive systems and also to evaluate its influence on the pH and microshear bond strength (μSBS) to enamel.
Methods: Primers containing Poly-P (10, 15, 30 or 50wt.%), HEMA, ethanol, and water were prepared and allocated in subgroups according to a buffered or non-buffered pH.
Objective: Actinic cheilitis (AC) is a precancerous lesion of the lip vermillion caused by prolonged exposure to ultraviolet light. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of 3% diclofenac in 2.5% hyaluronic acid gel in the treatment of AC.

This study retrieved oral and maxillofacial pediatric lesions from the Center of Diagnosis of Oral Diseases (CDDB) at the Dental School of the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPEL), comprising a 20-year period (1983-2002). From the total of 9,465 biopsies received in this period, 625 (6.

Materials And Methods: Five experimental self-etching primers with 0, 5, 10, 20 and 40 (wt%) water as solvent were formulated. An experimental adhesive resin (AD-50) was also synthesized to create one experimental self-etching adhesive system.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to synthesize an acidic monomer using an alternative synthetic pathway and to evaluate the influence of the acidic monomer concentration on the microtensile bond strength to dentin.
Methods: The intermediary 5-hydroxypentyl methacrylate (HPMA) was synthesized through methacrylic acid esterification with 1,5-pentanediol, catalyzed by p-toluenesulfonic acid. To displace the reaction balance, the water generated by esterification was removed by three different methods: anhydrous sodium sulfate; molecular sieves or azeotropic distillation.
