Skin reactions after transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) with anthracyclines are rare and mostly limited to small areas. We describe a 56-year-old male with hepatocellular carcinoma treated with epirubicin chemoembolization. Immediately the procedure, pain on the right side and an extended livedo reticularis-like skin reaction appeared.

Medications prescriptions in COVID-19 pregnant and lactating women: the Bergamo Teratology Information Service experience during COVID-19 outbreak in Italy.

Objectives The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (COVID-19) outbreak in Italy, especially in Lombardy and Bergamo city, represented probably nowadays one of the first major clusters of COVID-19 in the world. The aim of this report is to describe the activity of Bergamo Teratology Information Service (TIS) in supporting the public and health-care personnel in case of drug prescriptions in suspected/confirmed COVID-19 pregnant and lactating patients during COVID-19 outbreak in Italy. Methods All Bergamo TIS requests concerning COVID-19 pregnant and lactating women have been retrospectively evaluated from 1 March to 15 April 2020.

Lacosamide-induced recurrent ventricular fibrillation: A case report.

Lacosamide, a new antiepileptic drug, acts at central nervous system level but may also affect the heart, increasing the risk of cardiac arrhythmias. Only few cases of lacosamide-induced cardiac dysrhythmia have been published. We report a case of several episodes of a life-threatening ventricular fibrillation requiring cardioversion following the first doses of lacosamide as adjunctive epilepsy treatment.

SJS/TEN overlap associated with lomefloxacin: case report and molecular typing studies.

Background: Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) or toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) may develop in susceptible patients after administration of different drugs. Only mild cutaneous reactions have been related to lomefloxacin. A correlation between human leucocyte antigen (HLA) and cutaneous adverse reaction has been identified.

Neurotoxicity of European viperids in Italy: Pavia Poison Control Centre case series 2001-2011.

Context: Some clinical aspects about neurotoxicity after snakebites by European viper species remain to be elucidated.

Objective: This observational case series aims to analyze neurological manifestations due to viper envenomation in Italy in order to describe the characteristic of neurotoxicity and to evaluate the clinical response to the antidotic treatment, the outcome, and the influence of individual variability in determining the appearance of neurotoxic effects.

Materials And Methods: All cases of snakebite referred to Pavia Poison Centre (PPC) presenting peripheral neurotoxic effects from 2001 to 2011 were included.

MAM-2201 (analytically confirmed) intoxication after "Synthacaine" consumption.

Excitatory behavior, xerostomia, chest pain, severe dyspnea, tachycardia (150 beats/min), and mild hypertension (160/80 mm Hg) without ECG abnormalities were observed in a 20-year-old subject 6 hours after nasal insufflation (snorting) of a "legally" obtained white powdered substance sold as Synthacaine. A serum sample was found to contain MAM-2201 (11 ng/mL), a synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonist, and benzocaine. The patient's symptoms improved after administration of diazepam and intravenous fluids.

Metformin accumulation: lactic acidosis and high plasmatic metformin levels in a retrospective case series of 66 patients on chronic therapy.

OBJECTIVE. The relationship between metformin accumulation and lactate increase is still debated. This observational case series aims to evaluate the correlation of metformin plasma levels with the pH, lactate and creatinine levels, and with the mortality rate in selected patients with metformin accumulation confirmed through metformin plasma concentration detection at hospital admission.

Context: Pyrethroids are synthetic pyrethrin analogues that induce sodium-channel depolarization and hyperexcitation. Severe pyrethroid poisoning is manifested by a "Tremor Syndrome" (Type I cyano-agents) or a "Choreoathetosis/Salivation Syndrome" (Type II non cyano-agents). Very few reports of neurotoxic effects caused by Type I pyrethroids ingestion are available, and no human data concerning Type I pyrethroid blood levels in pediatric poisoning are reported in the medical literature.

A 74-year-old female with a 5-year medical history of breast infiltrating lobular carcinoma was admitted to our Rehabilitation Unit ward for left hemiparesis secondary to neurosurgical removal of frontal and right parietal metastatic lesions. After the intervention, prophylactic treatment with the antiepileptic diphenylhydantoin 100 mg/tid was started. On 38th day of drug administration an erythema without itch appeared in jugular and parasternal region and absent in the clothing covered areas, suggesting a contact dermatitis.
