The use of biological traces recovered from touched or handled items increased with the advance of the forensic analysis system. Thus, DNA profiles obtained from touch DNA became a useful tool in forensic investigation. However, a chimeric person with more than one chromosomal population can be challenging for a forensic analyst.

Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) is the only potentially curative treatment option for the hematologic complications that occur in patients with Fanconi anemia (FA). In this study, we present a retrospective multicenter analysis from the Eastern Mediterranean Blood and Marrow Transplantation Group (EMBMT) of matched related donor HSCT for FA in adolescents and adults transplanted between 1988 and 2015. Forty-five patients received HSCT with a median age at transplant of 18 years, the interquartile range (IQR) (15-23.

There is unmet need for prediction of treatment response for chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) patients. The present study aims to identify disease-specific/disease-associated protein biomarkers detectable in bone marrow and peripheral blood for objective prediction of individual's best treatment options and prognostic monitoring of CML patients. Bone marrow plasma (BMP) and peripheral blood plasma (PBP) samples from newly-diagnosed chronic-phase CML patients were subjected to expression-proteomics using quantitative two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE) and label-free liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).

Objectives: Fanconi anemia is a congenital bone marrow failure syndrome that is associated with congenital anomalies and increased risk of cancer. Hematopoietic stem cell transplant is a potentially curative modality for bone marrow failure in Fanconi anemia patients. Here, we report our center's experience regarding adolescent and young adult patients with Fanconi anemia and hematopoietic stem cell transplant.

Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-SCT) is often recommended for patients with T cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) in second or later complete remission (≥CR2) and sometimes in high-risk (HR) patients in first complete remission (CR1). Between January 1995 and July 2009, 53 patients with HR T-ALL underwent allo-SCT at our institution. Median age was 18 years (range, 14-51).

Background: The design of chemotherapy-induction regimens for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) is directed towards the early elimination of bone marrow (BM) leukaemic blast cells (LBCs). Patients with AML after induction show LBC reduction in a hypoplastic BM and also demonstrate a varying number of residual BM plasma cells (PCs).

Aim: To relate PC number to several blood and BM parameters as well as clinical features such as infection and survival.
