[Bilateral macronodular adrenal hyperplasia: a rare cause of Cushing's syndrome (a case report)].

Bilateral macronodular adrenal hyperplasia (BMAH) is a rare cause of adrenal Cushing's syndrome, accounting for less than 1% of cases. We here report the case of a 48-year-old patient with diabetes and hypertension presenting with clinical signs of Cushing's syndrome. Etiological assessment enabled clinicians to retain the diagnosis of Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH)-independent hypercortisolism associated with BMAH.

X-linked vitamin D-resistant rickets: 12 years of follow-up.

Rickets are abnormalities of mineralization that can lead to bone fractures and deformities. Vitamin-resistant rickets is defined as any rickets not prevented by regular, early and prolonged administration of vitamin D and not cured by a sufficient total dose. The aim of our work is to describe the clinical, paraclinical and therapeutic aspects of X-linked hypophosphatemic rickets (XLHR), which is the most common cause of hereditary rickets and on the other hand to highlight the interest not only of the early care but also the regular long-term monitoring of these children.

[Chronic kidney failure and carotid atherosclerosis in diabetic patient].

Introduction: Chronic kidney failure is an independent risk factor of cardiovascular disease. Its association with carotid atherosclerosis remains controversial. The purpose of our study was to assess the factors associated with carotid atherosclerosis specially the components of chronic kidney disease.

Management of diabetes in Morocco: results of the International Diabetes Management Practices Study (IDMPS) - wave 5.

Objectives: The International Diabetes Mellitus Practice Study (IDMPS) is a 5-year survey documenting changes in diabetes treatment practices in developing countries. The primary objective of this survey was to assess the therapeutic management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in real-life medical practice. The secondary objectives were to evaluate the clinical management of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) and to assess the proportion of all diabetic patients failing to reach the glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) <7% target.

An unusual pituitary mass revealing a primary hypothyroidism!

Autoimmune hypothyroidism is a common medical condition. Its revelation by thyrotrophic hyperplasia is an unusual and may be misdiagnosed as a pituitary adenoma. A 35-year-old man is referred to us for endocrinological assessment before surgery of a pituitary macroadenoma with bitemporal hemianopsia.

[Diabetes management issues for patients with chronic kidney disease].

Chronic kidney disease is in continuous increase and can be found in up to 23% of patients with diabetes. Glycemic control is difficult to assess and medication therapy for diabetes may require dose adjustments part of the alteration of drug's pharmacokinetics and the insulin resistance which is predicting cardiovascular events. The recommended hemoglobin A1c goal is also lower than 7.
