Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of combined cataract surgery with insertion of an ab interno trabecular microbypass device (iStent Inject, Glaukos Corporation) compared to cataract surgery alone in patients with mild-to-moderate glaucoma.
Design: Prospective, randomized, assessor-masked controlled trial at a single centre.
Participants: Eyes with visually-significant cataract and mild-to-moderate glaucoma with preoperative intraocular pressure (IOP) of 12 to 30 mmHg on 0 to 3 ocular hypotensive medications.
Background: To appraise the quality of clinical practice guidelines for glaucoma suspects, and to assess their consistency for how a 'glaucoma suspect' is defined and their recommendations for treatment initiation for such individuals.
Methods: This study included all documents that self-identified as a 'guideline' and provided recommendation(s) for the clinical care of glaucoma suspects. The quality of eligible guidelines was assessed using the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation (AGREE) II instrument.

Methods: Eyes with a glaucomatous optic nerve appearance or ocular hypertension (n = 523) and healthy eyes (n = 107) were included as cases and control subjects, respectively.
Background/aims: To determine if selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) is superior to topical medication as a first-line treatment for glaucoma on quality of life (QoL) and clinical outcomes.
Methods: In this international, longitudinal, multisite randomised controlled trial, treatment naïve mild-to-moderate primary open angle or exfoliation glaucoma patients were randomised 1:1 to SLT or topical medication. Throughout life the composition of this vitreous changes, which causes the protein strands in it to bundle together and scatter light before it reaches the retina. (2) Such a correlation may be used as a simple quantitative tool for estimation of ACD.
Methods: Two hundred sixty-six phakic eyes had lateral digital photographs taken from the temporal side, perpendicular to the visual axis, and underwent optical biometry (Nidek AL scanner).
Purpose: To examine the association between the measured level and local gradient of visual sensitivity on the magnitude of test-retest variability of its measurements at the peripapillary region using fundus-tracked perimetry in eyes with glaucoma.
Methods: A total of 30 participants with open angle glaucoma underwent three examinations in one eye on fundus-tracked perimetry using a stimulus pattern that sampled the peripapillary region densely. Factors associated with the magnitude of test-retest variability at each location were examined.

Endophthalmitis post glaucoma drainage implant (GDI) surgery is rare, often associated with tube or plate exposure. We report a case of endophthalmitis following glaucoma shunt intraluminal stent exposure in a patient who underwent Baerveldt glaucoma implant surgery. Endophthalmitis following manipulation of intraluminal stents is a rare complication of GDIs but potentially vision threatening condition that needs to be carefully screened for and treated immediately.

Patient And Methods: A retrospective review of 45 patients who underwent 50 unsutured scleral flap trabeculectomies by a single ophthalmic surgeon. Information pertaining to each patient's demographic details, preoperative assessment, surgical procedure, and 2 years of postoperative management were obtained.
We report a case series of three patients with previous trabeculectomies who developed elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in the immediate postoperative period after routine Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK). All patients had functioning trabeculectomies preoperatively, and developed elevated IOP between 41 and 69 mm Hg within 24 hours following DSAEK surgery. The IOP was successfully controlled in all patients with topical IOP-lowering medications and oral acetazolamide, with the addition of ocular massage and release of aqueous for two patients.

It is well recognized that the water drinking test raises intraocular pressure and there is reasonable evidence that caffeine can also raise intraocular pressure. The aim of this study is to directly compare the effect of a caffeine test to that of the water drinking test on intraocular pressure, in patients with glaucoma.
