Tryptamine, a monoamine alkaloid with an indole ring structure, is derived from the decarboxylation of the amino acid tryptophan, which is present in fungi, plants, and animals. Tryptamine analogues hold significant therapeutic potential due to their broad pharmacological activities, including roles as neurotransmitters and potential therapeutic agents for various diseases. Structural modifications of tryptamine enhance receptor selectivity and metabolic stability, improving therapeutic efficacy.

Purpose: The local management approach for node-positive breast cancer has undergone substantial evolution. Consequently, there exists a pressing need to enhance our treatment strategies by placing greater emphasis on planning and dosimetric factors, given the availability of more conformal techniques and delineation criteria, achieving optimal goals of radiotherapy treatment. The primary aim of this article is to discuss how the extent of regional nodal coverage influences the choice between IMRT and 3D radiation therapy for patients.

Background And Aim: Cancer cell's innate chemotherapeutic resistance continues to be an obstacle in molecular oncology. This theory is firmly tied to the cancer cells' integral DNA repair mechanisms continuously neutralizing the effects of chemotherapy. Amidst these mechanisms, the nuclear excision repair pathway is crucial in renovating DNA lesions prompted by agents like Cisplatin.

Objective: To appraise and compare the reparative role of bone marrow-mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) against irradiation damage on albino rats' submandibular gland.

Design: Seventy four male albino rats were used, one for BM-MSCs harvesting, 10 for PRP preparation, seven as control group (Group 1). The remaining 56 rats were subjected to single dose (6 Gy) gamma irradiation and were divided into equal four groups; (Group 2): received no treatment, (Group 3): each rat was injected with 1 × 10 BM-MSCs, (Group 4): each rat was injected with 0.

Background: Over the years, numerous studies proposed a crucial role of mutations of nuclear DNA in the carcinogenesis process. Of late, many researchers suppose that alterations of mitochondrial DNA should not be excepted from this analysis. Mutational analysis of mitochondrial DNA displayed that mitochondrial D-loop is assessed as a hotspot for molecular alterations in various types of malignant tumors encompassing oral squamous cell carcinoma.

The chelating behavior of ligands based on carbohydrazone core modified with pyridine end towards Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) ions have been examined. The ligands derived from the condensation of carbohydrazide with 2-acetylpyridine (H(2)APC) and 4-acetylpyridine (H(2)APEC). The (1)H NMR, IR data and the binding energy calculations of H(2)APC revealed the presence of two stereoisomers syn and anti in the solid state and in the solution.

Background: The pathogenesis of salivary gland carcinomas is very complex and prognostic markers are difficult to find in these carcinomas of which the different subtypes have varying malignant potential. The study was conducted to examine the cellular distribution of maspin and MCM2 in salivary gland carcinomas and their value to predict lymph node metastasis.

Materials And Methods: Fifty three paraffin blocks of different lesions (15 muco-epidermoid carcinoma, 14 adenoid cystic carcinoma, 3 epi-myoepithelial carcinoma, 5 salivary duct carcinoma, 5 malignant pleomorphic adenoma, 6 polymorphous low grade adenocarcinoma and 5 acinic cell carcinoma) were prepared for immunohistochemical staining with maspin and MCM2 antibodies.

The molecular modeling and parameters have been calculated to confirm the geometry of oxalyl bis(3,4-dihydroxybenzylidene) hydrazone, H(6)L. The metal complexes of Cr(3+), VO(2+), ZrO(2+), HfO(2+), UO(2)(2+) and MoO(2)(2+) with H(6)L have been prepared and characterized by partial elemental analysis, spectral studies (electronic; IR), thermal analysis and magnetic measurements. The data suggest the formation of polymer complexes with a unit [Cr(H(4)L)(H(2)O)(3)Cl].

Bench-scale experiments were conducted in the laboratory, aiming to remove aluminum from water. They were based on using powdered activated carbon (PAC), which was prepared from olive stones generated as plant wastes and modified with an aqueous oxidizing agent as HNO3 as an effective sorbent and oleic acid (HOL) as a surfactant. The main parameters (namely: initial solution pHs, sorbent, surfactant and aluminum concentrations, shaking time, ionic strength and the presence of foreign ions) that influence the sorptive-flotation process were examined.

Flotation is a separation technology for removing toxic heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions. Here a simple and rapid flotation procedure is presented for the removal of copper(II) from aqueous solutions. It is based on the use of polyaluminum chloride silicate (PAX-XL60 S) as coagulant and flocculent, carbonate ion as activator and oleic acid (HOL) as surfactant.

A simple and economic experimental sorptive -flotation procedure is presented for the removal of copper(II) species from aqueous solutions. It is based on using powdered marble wastes (PMW), which are widespread and inexpensive and may represent an environmental problem, as the effective inorganic sorbent and oleic (HOL) as the surfactant. Bench-scale experiments were conducted in the laboratory, aiming to remove aluminum from water. They were based on the use of powdered marble wastes (PMW), which are inexpensive and produced in large quantity, and thus potentially cause environmental problems, as an effective inorganic sorbent and oleic acid (HOL) as surfactant. The main parameters (solution pHs, sorbent, surfactant and aluminum concentrations, shaking time, ionic strength and the presence of foreign ions) that influence the sorptive-flotation process were examined.

The construction and general performance characteristics of two novel potentiometric PVC membrane sensors responsive to the pyridoxine hydrochloride known as vitamin B6 (VB6) are described. These sensors are based on the use of the ion-association complexes of the pyridoxine cation with phosphomolybdate, and phosphotungstate counter anions as ion pair in a plasticized PVC matrix. The electrodes show a stable, near-Nernstian response for 6x10(-5)-1x10(-2) M VB6 at 25 degrees C over the pH range 2-4 with a cationic slope of 54.

A simple, selective and sensitive procedure is described for the preconcentration by flotation followed by spectrophotometric determination of trace amounts of Cd(II). Cadmium forms an intense red 1:2 complex with phenanthraquinone monophenylthiosemicarbazone (PPT) at pH > or = 6. The colored Cd-PPT complex was floated quantitatively with oleic acid (HOL) surfactant at pH 6.

A simple, rapid and selective procedure for the indirect spectrophotometric determination of Se(IV) and As(V) has been developed. It is based on the reduction of Se(IV) to Se(0) and As(V) to As(III) with hydroiodic acid (KI + HCl). The liberated iodine, equivalent to each analyte, is quantitatively extracted with oleic acid (HOL) surfactant.
