Transcatheter stent implantation for the treatment of abdominal aortic coarctation and right renal artery stenosis in takayasu's arteritis: a case with a 4-year follow up.

We describe a Takayasu arteritis patient who was admitted because of an abdominal aortic stenosis, further complicated by the presence of a stenotic right renal artery located in the area of the aortic stenosis. After treatment of the renal stenosis with a 4 × 15 mm Driver stent, a 16 × 60 self-expandable nitinol stent (OptiMed) was deployed through the stenosis of the abdominal aorta. Even though the right renal artery was initially compromised after stent deployment through the aortic stenosis, the patient was successfully treated with renal artery re-dilation by a balloon passed through open cells of the aortic stent.

Is Chiari malformation a cause of systemic hypertension and sinus bradycardia? A case report and literature review.

A middle aged woman, having a history of diastolic hypertension and sinus bradycardia since one year ago, was referred to our center with a sudden occipital headache after shouting. To evaluate the cause of headache the brain MRI was performed reporting a slight cerebellar tonsillar herniation of about one centimeter below the foramen magnum. After the patient was diagnosed to have type I Chiari malformation, a surgery procedure was done and the symptoms were recovered after that.

Evaluation of dry solid waste recycling from municipal solid waste: case of Mashhad city, Iran.

The recycling for recovery and reuse of material and energy resources undoubtedly provides a substantial alternative supply of raw materials and reduces the dependence on virgin feedstock. The main objective of this study was to assess the potential of dry municipal solid waste recycling in Mashhad city, Iran. Several questionnaires were prepared and distributed among various branches of the municipality, related organizations and people.

A role for opioid system in the proconvulsant effects of sildenafil on the pentylenetetrazole-induced clonic seizure in mice.

There are several lines of evidence that opioidergic and nitrergic systems could modulate the seizure threshold. We previously have shown that sildenafil had proconvulsant effects in a model of clonic seizure induced by pentylenetetrazole (PTZ) or bicuculline. In the present study, we examined whether the opioid system participates in the action of sildenafil on the PTZ-induced clonic seizures in mice.

Biosorption of uranium(VI) from aqueous solutions by Ca-pretreated Cystoseira indica alga: breakthrough curves studies and modeling.

Uranium(VI) biosorption from aqueous solutions containing 60 mg l(-1) metal concentration by Ca-pretreated Cystoseira indica alga was studied in a packed bed column with 1.5 cm internal diameter. The effect of bed height and flow rate on biosorption process was investigated and the experimental breakthrough curves were obtained.

Methadone treatment in Iranian opiate addicts: a preliminary report.

Background: This study aimed to investigate the initial dosage of methadone and factors affecting it in maintenance therapy.

Methods: This cross-sectional, descriptive-analytic study was conducted on 157 individuals referring to a methadone maintenance therapy (MMT) clinic. The initial dosage of methadone was 20-45 mg which was adjusted during the treatment based on each patient's evaluation.
