In this study the associations between ocular problems and serum levels of immunoglobulins in sulfur mustard (SM) exposed population 20 years after exposure in context of Sardasht-Iran Cohort Study was explored. Serum immunoglobulins (Ig) levels including IgM, IgA, IgE, IgG, and subclasses of IgG (IgG1, IgG2, IgG3 and IgG4) in 372 SM-exposed patients were titrated and compared with 128 unexposed controls considering their ocular problems. In exposed patients with tearing and blurring of vision, serum IgM levels were significantly lower than matched controls (P=0.

Materials And Methods: In this study, the IOP of 130 eyes of 65 hemodialysis patients (38 men and 27 women) was measured before and every 1 hour after the initiation of hemodialysis therapy.
Background: Visual impairment is one of a major public health problem among elderly people.
Object: Aim of this study was determining the prevalence of visual impairment in median and old peoples in Qazvin (Iran).
Method: In this cross sectional study, with a simple random sampling, 446 patients older than 5o years who were referred to outpatient ophthalmology clinics at Avecina hospital of Qazvin (a province of Iran) in 2010 were enrolled.
Background: Rhinogenic origin is an important source for headache, which may be treated by medical or endoscopic intervention. An aim of this study was to clarify whether the surgical or medical intervention is superior.
Materials And Methods: In this randomized double blind clinical trial study, 44 patients (19 male and 25 female) with periorbital or frontal pain were enrolled.
Introduction: This review represents the current in vitro, in vivo, animal and human investigations on the roles of IL-10 in ocular inflammatory conditions.
Materials And Methods: The data sources were literature reviews, including Pub Med, Medline, and ISI databases (since 1989 to mid-2012). Search items were, IL-10, chemokines, cytokines, alone or in combination with, serum, aqueous, vitreous eye, ocular, ocular tissues, ophthalmic, and review.
Introduction: Patients with end-stage renal disease who receive hemodialysis are prone to visual disturbances. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of metabolic changes on visual parameters during hemodialysis sessions.
Materials And Methods: Demographic information including history of underlying diseases, wearing eyeglasses, any ocular diseases or surgeries, and hemodialysis duration and frequency were recorded in 65 hemodialysis patients.
GPx1 is one of the most important enzymes involved in oxidative balance so that, we studied the phenotype and genotype relationship of GPx1 activity and rs 1800668 (C/T) site and also evaluated the changes of GPx1 kinetic parameters in the rs 1800668 homozygotes. One hundred fifty eight subjects were recruited after clinical exams. The rs 1800668 (C/T) genotype distribution was identified using RFLP-PCR method.

Materials And Methods: Conjunctival bacterial florae of 143 seriously eye injured subjects as the study group was detected.
Introduction: Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) is the recommended first-line treatment for staghorn stones. To achieve complete stone clearance, PCNL may require using multiple tracts.
Objective: To evaluate outcome of PCNL in patients with staghorn calculi and its correlation with the number of tracts and stone features.
We evaluated the outcomes of percutaneous nephrolithotomy in patients with chronic renal insufficiency. A total of 60 patients with a creatinine level greater than 1.5 mg/dL who underwent PCNL were included.

Despite the large number of studies that have investigated SM induced ocular injuries, few of those studies have also focused on the psychological health status of victims. This study has evaluated the most prominent influences on the psychological health status of patients with severe SM induced ocular injuries.

Findings have shown that p22phox subunit is an essential element related to the enzyme activity. Since some p22phox polymorphisms are thought to have functional roles in the enzyme thus, we studied the association between rs4673 (C242T) and rs13306294 (A/G) haplotypes and the severity of stenosis in coronary arteries.

Materials And Methods: Data sources were a literature review using Pub Med, Medline, and ISI databases (from 1990 to 2011). Search items included interleukine-8 (IL-8), CXCL8, chemokines, cytokines, alone or in combination with the, serum, aqueous, vitreous, eye, ocular, ocular tissues, ophthalmic, and review.
Background: The most common complication of lumbar puncture (LP) occurring in over thirty percent of patients is headache. The position after lumbar puncture, needle type and size, and volume of the extracted cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) have been evaluated as contributory factors in occurrence of post lumbar puncture headache (PLPH), but the position before lumbar puncture has not been evaluated.
Methods: The occurrence of post lumbar puncture headache was evaluated in 125 patients undergoing lumbar puncture, divided randomly into sitting and lateral decubitus groups in the following five days.
Purpose: Delayed keratitis is the most dangerous ocular complication of sulfur mustard (SM) exposure. This study aimed to evaluate the role of tear and serum levels of interleukin-8 (IL-8) in SM exposed subjects.
Design And Methods: In this historical cohort study, the experimental group included 370 participants who had been exposed to SM 20 years prior.
Purpose: Ocular and pulmonary involvement are the most important complications of sulfur mustard (SM) that may happen many years after exposure. This study aims to evaluate the severity of ocular involvement and the correlation between late ocular and lung complications in patients exposed to SM.
Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted on SM lung-injured war veterans.
In this paper, the application of "parallel" moiré deflectometry in measuring the nonlinear refractive index of materials is reported. In "parallel" moiré deflectometry the grating vectors are parallel, and the resulting moiré fringes are also parallel to the grating lines. Compared to "rotational" moiré deflectometry and the Z-scan technique, which cannot easily determine the moiré fringe's angle of rotation and is sensitive to power fluctuations, respectively, "parallel" moiré deflectometry is more reliable, which allows one to measure the radius of curvature of the light beam by measuring the moiré fringe spacing.

Myofibroblasts are the major components and occur in stromal tissue during carcinogenesis processes. The purpose of this study was to review the frequency and the distribution pattern of myofibroblasts(αSMA-positive) in the stroma of squamous epithelial carcinoma and to compare values with those for with oral dysplasia and hyperkeratosis.

Sulfur mustard (SM) is a blistering chemical agent which has short and long term toxicity against many organs. The respiratory tract is one of the main targets, and is the most disabling long term complication of SM. Inflammatory mediators especially IL-8 and IL-6 play the primary role in the various chronic pulmonary diseases.
