Background: The use of single-chamber, right ventricular (RV) leadless pacemakers (LPs) has been well established, the introduction of a right atrial LPs has opened the door for dual-chamber leadless pacing. Cardiac computed tomography (CT) segmentation integration might provide proper visual guide during the procedure.

Case Summary: A 58-year-old male patient was brought to the emergency department with dizziness and complete heart block.

Characterizing the anchoring properties of smectic liquid crystals (LCs) in contact with bacterial solutions is crucial for developing biosensing platforms. In this study, we investigate the anchoring properties of a smectic LC when exposed to and bacterial suspensions using interfaces with known anchoring properties. By monitoring the optical response of the smectic film, we successfully distinguish different types of bacteria, leveraging the distinct changes in the LC's response.

Giant cell tumors (GCTs) are rare neoplasms, primarily found in long bones, typically affecting the epiphysis of the distal femur, proximal tibia, and distal radius. However, their occurrence in the cervical spine is exceedingly rare. Here, we present a case report of a 21-year-old female patient who presented with progressive neck pain, radiating numbness, and right hemiparesis.

We investigated herein the prevalence of Fasciola hepatica infection in sheep at Sejnane slaughterhouse, governorate of Bizerte, Northwest of Tunisia, using three different diagnostic techniques (liver dissection, bile examination, and coprology). Faeces, liver, gall bladder as well as blood samples were collected from 603 slaughtered sheep in two seasons: winter and summer. Faecal egg counts of F.

Introduction: Osteochondromas, also known as osteocartilaginous exostosis, are among the most common benign cartilaginous bone tumors, primarily occurring as solitary lesions. While typically found in long bones, spinal involvement is rare, accounting for only a small percentage of benign lesions in this location. Solitary osteochondromas responsible for spinal cord compression are seldom.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to estimate the prevalence of Toxoplasma gondii in sheep liver tissues intended for human consumption, with a total of 224 samples collected from a slaughterhouse in Northwest Tunisia.
  • Using PCR, the overall molecular prevalence of T. gondii was found to be 25%, with the highest rates observed in sheep under one year old and in the Noire de Thibar breed.
  • The T. gondii sequences identified were highly homologous to known sequences in GenBank, indicating significant contamination in the sheep liver tissues and suggesting a need for further investigation into the genotypes affecting the Tunisian sheep population.

species, especially and , have been associated with a range of human gastrointestinal diseases. During the last two decades, due to the irrational use of antibiotics in poultry farms, high rates of antimicrobial resistance have been globally reported in and isolates. Recently, acquired linezolid-resistance mechanisms have been reported in spp.

  • This study examines plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance (PMQR) in bacteria from chickens, their eggs, and poultry farm environments in northeastern Tunisia, analyzing 139 samples.
  • Researchers found high resistance rates against various antibiotics, including a 100% resistance to erythromycin and tetracycline, with all quinolone-resistant strains carrying a specific mutation in the GyrA protein.
  • Additionally, the study identified a new sequence type (ST13450) among eleven isolates and highlights the novel presence of PMQR genes in Tunisia, marking a significant finding in the field.

Fasciolosis is a worldwide zoonotic snail-borne infection that affects ruminants, it causes high economic losses among livestock. A participatory epidemiological survey was conducted on 204 sheep owners of Sejnane region (District of Bizerte, Northwest Tunisia) to assess their knowledge, attitude and practice regarding fasciolosis. All interviewed sheep owners are aware of this parasitic infection (100%, 204/204), among them, 81% (165/204) reported history of clinical cases in their sheep flocks.

The emergence of pandemics with dramatic consequences for human health has obscured endemic diseases that continue to pose a problem for human and animal health in several regions of the world. Among these diseases, cystic echinococcosis, a zoonotic parasitic infection caused by a group of cestodes, Echinococcus granulosus sensu lato, remains a real human and animal health problem in several regions of the world, including the Mediterranean Basin. Despite the implementation of a number of governmental control programmes using several tools (dog treatment, meat inspection, etc.

  • Sciatica is typically linked to nerve issues but can also arise from rare causes like hydatid cysts, as shown in a case where a thigh cyst produced similar symptoms.
  • A 40-year-old patient with a history of tuberculosis experienced persistent pain that MRI revealed was caused by a hydatid cyst, leading to successful surgical removal.
  • Diagnosing such atypical causes requires careful imaging and serological tests, highlighting the need for healthcare providers to consider uncommon etiologies to improve treatment outcomes for patients with resistant sciatica.

Introduction: Since 1999, Tunisia has experienced multiple occurrences of Bluetongue (BT) outbreaks, leading to numerous reported cases of infection and mortality in flocks. The re-emergence of the disease in 2020 caused substantial economic losses in cattle, attributed to the incursion of serotype BTV-4.

Methods: To evaluate the economic impact of the recent BT episode, we conducted a retrospective study on outbreaks that occurred in Tunisia between August and November 2020, focusing on the impact at the owner's level and its effects on both small ruminants and cattle.
