Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most diagnosed cancer worldwide and the second most common cause of cancer death. About 20% of patients diagnosed with rectal cancer present with emergency symptoms. Typical symptoms include acute bleeding, obstruction, and perforation.

Patients experiencing medication errors face serious problems, with increasing mortality rates and escalating hospital costs.
Aim: The study aims to examine nursing students' awareness of various medical errors during their clinical internships at Al- Ahsa, identifying types of errors to enhance patient safety.
Introduction: Chronic alcohol exposure in humans and rodents causes tolerance to the analgesic effects of alcohol, and enhances pain sensitivity during alcohol withdrawal (i.e., hyperalgesia).

Understanding the relationship between academic stress and learning approaches is crucial for enhancing nursing education effectiveness and student well-being.
Aim: This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of academic stress and its correlation with learning approaches among nursing students.
Background: The World Health Organization recommends companionship as a critical element of respectful maternity care. However, there is paucity of literature regarding women's attitudes, related factors, and barriers of implementation in Saudi Arabia.
Objective: This study aimed to assess women's attitudes toward birth companionship during labor and delivery, related factors, and barriers of implementing labor companionship in Saudi Arabia.
The integration of photovoltaic into a greenhouse has been implemented to maximize the energy output and crop production yield from the same land space. The effect of greenhouse external shading of opaque crystalline silicon photovoltaic (PV) panels at 13-26% of the roof area on the microclimate and growth of Chili pepper was investigated. The PV panels were divided into two arrays (each of 4 PVs) and fixed separately on two external pillars of 4 m height in the Southeast and Northwest directions, respectively.

Chylothorax is an exceedingly rare but serious complication of orthotopic heart transplantation (OHT). Prompt diagnosis and appropriate management are essential for a good outcome. Management is similar to that of nontransplant patients, but special attention must be given to patients' nutritional and immunological status.

This study was done to compare minimally invasive techniques for aortic valve replacement, including right anterior mini-thoracotomy and mini-sternotomy, to conventional sternotomy.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 503 patients who underwent isolated aortic valve replacement at our institution from 2012 to 2015 using one of three techniques: 1) Mini-thoracotomy, 2) Mini-sternotomy, 3) Conventional sternotomy.
This study aimed to determine if gameplay performance in the National Football League (NFL) is adversely affected after returning to play from a sport-related concussion (SRC). Players who sustained a SRC between the 2007-2008 and 2013-2014 seasons were identified. Concussed players were matched to nonconcussed control players in a 2:1 (control-case) fashion by position, season, experience, age, body mass index, and time missed.

Methods: Guinea pigs were fed ad libitum (Control) or 70% of the control diet before pregnancy, switching to 90% at mid-pregnancy (MNR). Fetuses were necropsied near term and brain tissues processed for necrosis (H&E), apoptosis (TUNEL), and pro- (Bax) and anti- (Bcl-2 and Grp78) apoptotic protein immunoreactivity.
Background: Patients with infective endocarditis (IE) are at high risk for post-operative morbidity and death, which might be associated with drug abuse. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of drug dependence on outcomes in patients who have IE and undergo valvular surgery (VS).
Patients And Methods: The Nationwide/National Inpatient Sample 2001-2012 was queried to select patients with IE who had elective VS using International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision, Clinical Modification diagnosis and procedure codes.

We determined the impact of moderate maternal nutrient restriction (MNR) in guinea pigs on pregnancy outcomes, maternal/fetal growth parameters, and blood analytes to further characterize the utility of this model for inducing fetal growth restriction (FGR). Thirty guinea pig sows were fed ad libitum (Control) or 70% of the control diet prepregnant switching to 90% at midpregnancy (MNR). Animals were necropsied near term with weights obtained on all sows, fetuses, and placenta.

Under pathological conditions, unhealthy cortical tissue loses its ability to maintain this precise environment and there is a net efflux of charged particles from the cells. Typically, this ionic efflux is measured using ion-selective microelectrodes, which measure a single ionic species at a time.

Our patient suffered from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy due to long-standing hypertension with Dana Point Classification Group 2 pulmonary hypertension from the underlying cardiac disease, along with renal failure necessitating renal replacement therapy. Twenty months after the transplant procedure, she has stable pulmonary and renal function, plus has resumed a normal daily life with improving exercise tolerance.

Acute pancreatitis is a common and dreaded complication of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) patients. The study identified the incidence of post ERCP pancreatitis and role of serum calprotectin and ghrelin in its diagnosis. One hundred forty two patients underwent ERCP-related procedures were studied.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively studied all patients who underwent continent catheterizable stoma using the serous lined extramural technique between May 1993 and March 2008. Patient records were reviewed for age, sex, indication for surgery, surgical details and postoperative course.
Regeneration of skeletal muscle following injury is dependent on numerous factors including age, the inflammatory response, revascularization, gene expression of myogenic and growth factors and the activation and proliferation of endogenous progenitor cells. It is our hypothesis that oxidative stress preceding a contusion injury to muscle modulates the inflammatory response to inhibit muscle regeneration and enhance fibrotic scar formation. Male F344/BN rats were assigned to one of four groups.

Less is known regarding the effect of aging-associated oxidative stress on the inflammatory response in injured skeletal muscle. The purpose of this project was to assess the level of oxidative stress in skeletal muscles of young, adult, and old rats and determine its effect on the acute inflammatory response to a contusion injury.

An ultraviolet (UV) coil reactor was designed and used for the online sterilization of cheese whey. Its microbial destruction efficiency was compared to that of the conventionally used UV reactor. Both reactors have the same geometry (840 ml volume and 17 mm gap size) and were tested at 11 flow rates of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 50, 60, and 70 ml/min.
