Clinical features and management approaches for Urinary Incontinence in Older Adults: Evidence from Three Hospitals in Qatar.

Background: Urinary incontinence (UI) is a common medical problem that seriously affects patients' physical, psychological, social, and financial well-being. To identify the most effective drug management techniques, this retrospective study aimed to describe the demographics, etiology, and medical traits of people with UI.

Methods: This retrospective study was conducted at Rumailah Hospital, Ambulatory Care Centre, and Hamad General Hospital to investigate UI risk factors, causes, and management practices in people aged ≥ 65 years within the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) in Qatar.

Primary thyroid lymphoma (PTL) is a rare type of thyroid cancer, comprising less than 5% of all thyroid cancer cases. The connection between PTL and autoimmune diseases of the thyroid, particularly Hashimoto's thyroiditis, has gained recognition in recent years.

We propose a method for extracting physics-based biomarkers from a single multiparametric Magnetic Resonance Imaging (mpMRI) scan bearing a glioma tumor. We account for mass effect, the deformation of brain parenchyma due to the growing tumor, which on its own is an important radiographic feature but its automatic quantification remains an open problem. In particular, we calibrate a partial differential equation (PDE) tumor growth model that captures mass effect, parameterized by a single scalar parameter, tumor proliferation, migration, while localizing the tumor initiation site.

Introduction: Giant cell reparative granuloma is a rare, locally benign tumor with an aggressive behavior resembling malignant neoplasm, originating mainly from the mandible and maxilla; however, it can originate from other sites, such as zygomatic and temporal bones, with a young adult female predilection.

Case Presentation: A 28-year-old female presented to the Department of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery with a history of a slowly enlarging swelling over the left parotid region for four months. Physical examination revealed a non-erythematous, non-tender, firm mass with no overlying skin changes.

3D interacting magnetic multilayered nanowire arrays: the emergence and evolution of new first-order reversal curve features.

The crucial role of magnetostatic interactions in tuning properties of storage devices based on magnetic nanowires (NWs) has recently been highlighted by advanced characterization techniques including the first-order reversal curve (FORC) analysis, evaluating physical entities constituting conventional 2D NW systems. Herein, FORC diagrams of ferromagnetic (FM)/non-magnetic (NM) multilayered NW arrays are simulated using Monte Carlo calculations, involving magnetostatic interactions between segments in 3D space. The FM length is constant to 6 µm whereas the NM length (L ) varies from 10 to 300 nm, significantly influencing interwire and intrasegment interactions of neighboring NWs and coupled segments along the NW length.

Effect of synbiotic bread containing lactic acid on glycemic indicators, biomarkers of antioxidant status and inflammation in patients with type 2 diabetes: a randomized controlled trial.

Background: The aim of this randomized, double-blinded, controlled trial was to investigate the effect of daily consumption of a synbiotic bread containing lactic acid on glycemic status, antioxidant biomarkers and inflammation in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D).

Methods: T2D patients, aged 20 to 60 years, were randomly assigned to consume synbiotic + lactic acid (n = 30), synbiotic (n = 30), lactic acid (n = 30), or control (n = 30) bread for 8 weeks. Patients consumed bread 3 times a day in a 40 g package for a total of 120 g/day.

Detection errors such as false alarms and undetected faults are inevitable in any practical anomaly detection system. These errors can create potentially significant problems in the underlying application. In particular, false alarms can result in performing unnecessary recovery actions while missed detections can result in failing to perform recovery which can lead to severe consequences.

Interfacial Targeting of Sessile Droplets Using Electrospray.

We report on the use of electrospray atomization to deliver nanoparticles and surfactant directly to the surface of sessile droplets. The particles delivered to the target droplet remained adsorbed at its interface since they arrived solvent-free. Upon complete evaporation, the interface of the target drop was mapped to the underlying substrate, forming a nanoparticle deposit.

Background: The purpose of this study was to assess the accuracy of (18) F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography ((18) FDG PET)-CT in detecting residual or recurrent disease after nonsurgical treatment for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC).

Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of patients with oral cavity, oropharynx, larynx, hypopharynx, or cervical lymph node location of SCC treated with chemoradiotherapy. Twelve weeks posttreatment, (18) FDG PET-CT results were compared to histology if residual disease was suspected.

Objective: To study the prevalence of and risk factors for urinary incontinence (UI) in Qatar, and its impact on quality of life (QoL).

Patients And Methods: This study was conducted in two phases, as phase 1 from 2010 to 2011 and phase 2 from 2011 to 2012. In phase 1 we calculated the prevalence of UI in Qatar and its risk factors.

A rare case report of appendix and cecum in the sac of left inguinal hernia (left Amyand's hernia).

This case is a rare aspect of left inguinal hernia. The patient was a 60-years old man with left scrotal mass since childhood. In the operating room, the hernia sac was opened which included cecum and appendix that is called left Amyand's hernia.

Evaluation of supporting role of early enteral feeding via tube jejunostomy following resection of upper gastrointestinal tract.

Background: Today, early diagnosis of upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract malignancies and their surgical resection is becoming more feasible. One of the important side effects in upper GI tract malignancies is malnutrition which has direct relationship with postoperative complications. Nonetheless, there is no easy regimen of nutrition for these patients especially for the first week after operation.

Thyroid synovial sarcoma: a case report.

Sarcomas are rare tumors account for about 1% of cancers in adult. Soft tissue sarcomas are the most common one. Synovial sarcoma's incident is about 10% of all sarcomas and most commonly rise from para-articular regions in young adults.

Assessment and treatment of choledocholithiasis when endoscopic sphincterotomy is not successful.

Background: Choledocholithiasis exists in approximately 15% of patients with gallstones and is present in 3%-10% of those undergoing cholecystectomy.

Methods: In this study, we retrospectively analyzed the outcome patients with choledocholithiasis that were managed by open common bile duct (CBD) exploration according to our center's protocol. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) was performed for CBD stone clearance.

Case report of a perforated appendix in the sac of inguinal hernia (Amyand's hernia).

This case is a rare aspect of inguinal hernia. The patient was admitted with a 10-day pain of right groin and a past history of an inguinal hernia which was irreducible at the time of admission. In the operating room, the hernia sac was opened which included a perforated and gangrenous appendix that is called Amyand's hernia.

GreenLight HPS 120-W laser vaporization versus transurethral resection of the prostate for treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia: a randomized clinical trial with midterm follow-up.

Background: Photoselective vaporization (PVP) with the GreenLight HPS 120-W laser (GLL) was recently introduced for treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
