Higher usage of copper oxide nanomaterials in industrial and biomedical fields may cause an increase of these nanoparticles in aquatic environments, which could have a detrimental ecological effect. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the acute toxicity of copper oxide nanoparticles on the freshwater gastropod, Biomphalaria alexandrina. Transmission electron microscopy, x-ray diffraction analysis and UV-VIS spectrophotometer of CuO NPs revealed a typical TEM image and a single crystal structure with average crystallite size of approximately 40 nm also, a sharp absorption band was appeared.

Acute kidney damage, glomerulonephritis, and tubular dysfunction are the most prevalent renal consequences of infection. The purpose of this study was to determine the pharmacological effects of green-produced zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) on infection in male Wistar rats.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFMain Conclusions: Green-synthesized zinc oxide nanoparticle is a promising treatment modality against parasitic infection through its powerful anthelmintic, antioxidant, healing promotion, and anti-inflammation effects.
Background: Nanoparticles have many properties, depending on their size, shape, and morphology, allowing them to interact with microorganisms, plants, and animals.
Objectives: Investigation of the therapeutic effects of green-synthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) on Parascaris equorum infection in rats.
Objective: To compare the mandibular ramal height differences between clinically symmetrical and asymmetrical face individuals.
Methods: The comparative cross-sectional study was conducted from May 2020 to July 2021 at the Armed Forces Institute of Dentistry, Rawalpindi, Pakistan, and comprised subjects regardless of age and gender who were divided into two equal groups. Those with a clinically symmetrical face were in Group-I, and those with a clinically asymmetrical face were in Group-II.
Anisakidosis is a foodborne zoonotic infection induced by members of the family Anisakidae via the consumption of raw or undercooked fish such as sushi and sashimi. Identifying anisakid larval species is critical for the epidemiology and diagnosis of diseases caused by them. This study aimed at identifying Anisakis larvae collected from marine fish in Egyptian waters based on morphological characteristics and molecular analysis.

Therefore, this study aimed to determine the percentage of occurrence, types, and causes of DRPs among PH with VHD patients.
Patients And Methods: An observational retrospective study was conducted at Cardiology Centre, Hospital Serdang, from 1st January to 30th April 2021.
Objectives: Due to the constant battle regarding the controversial topic of orthodontic extraction, this study aims to assess the changes in vertical dimensions of patients treated with premolar extractions compared with nonextraction orthodontic patients.
Materials And Methods: A sample of 60 borderline patients were recruited and divided into extraction and nonextraction groups. Eleven pretreatment cephalometric measurements were recorded using WebCeph and patients were followed-up until the completion of treatment.
Macroautophagy promotes cellular homeostasis by delivering cytoplasmic constituents to lysosomes for degradation [Mizushima, 20, 521-527 (2018)]. However, while most studies have focused on the mechanisms of protein degradation during this process, we report here that macroautophagy also depends on glycan degradation via the glycosidase, α-l-fucosidase 1 (FUCA1), which removes fucose from glycans. We show that cells lacking FUCA1 accumulate lysosomal glycans, which is associated with impaired autophagic flux.

Workup for primary adrenal insufficiency often unmasks this underlying grave pathology. In this article, we present a case of a 73-yearold patient who presented with features of primary adrenal insufficiency and renal colic.

The risk of malaria recurrence increases due to the main vector, Anopheles pharoensis. The physiological age of the mosquito population is needed to expect malaria vector dynamics. The number of completed gonotrophic cycles is of great importance in determining the physiological age of females.

Methods: The cross-sectional study was conducted at the Department of Orthodontics, Armed Forces Institute of Dentistry, Rawalpindi, Pakistan, from September 2019 to February 2020, and comprised maxillary and mandibular dental casts of orthodontically untreated subjects that were evaluated to obtain arch dimensions at the canines and first molar levels with the help of digital Vernier calipers. Bracket-archwire assembly was constructed to accurately measure widths from bracket-slot points at both the canine and molar levels in an attempt to mimic clinical archwire-bracket interface.
Purpose: This study investigated the prevalence and molecular detection of Cryptosporidium spp. in catfish (Clarias gariepinus).
Methods: A total of 300 Carias gariepinus fish were collected from two freshwater sources: the Nile River (180) and drainage canals (120).

A novel inverter-based digital floating-gate MOSFET sensor design for commercial X-ray dosimetry is presented. The biomedical healthcare industry sterilizes blood products for storage purposes using Gamma and X-ray radiations. This requires an ultra-low-power dosimeter that ensures irradiation does not exceed the maximum allowable 50 Gy while providing the required minimum levels of 25 Gy.

Patients And Methods: This study was carried out on type II diabetic patients with and without complications and healthy individuals served as controls. All subjects were submitted to the estimation of serum lipid profile, serum creatinine, urinary albumin/creatinine ratio (ACR), fasting blood glucose (FBG), glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), visceral adiposity index (VAI), atherogenic index of plasma (AIP), lipid accumulation product (LAP) and detection of serum level of netrin1 and VCAM1.
Simultaneous occurrences of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and thyroid storm have long been known, but only a few cases have been reported to date. Both these endocrine emergencies demand timely diagnosis and management to prevent adverse outcomes. Due to the similarities in their clinical presentation, DKA can mask the diagnosis of thyroid storm and vice versa.

Epiploic appendagitis (EA) is a rare and often misdiagnosed cause of acute abdominal pain. It is a benign and self-limited condition but mimics other underlying causes of acute abdominal pain like acute diverticulitis, acute appendicitis, acute cholecystitis, etc. Inaccurate diagnosis can lead to iatrogenic adverse outcomes.
