A floating macrophyte () was cultivated under hydroponic conditions (relative humidity 50-67%, photoperiod cycle 18:6 h light/dark, and 28-33 °C) and subjected to different DIOX loads between 0.0 (control) and 11.

Structures of isolated phyto-constituents were elucidated spectroscopic 1D-, 2D-NMR and spectrometric ESI-MS spectra.

The present study aimed at comparing chromogenic media, automated identification cards versus MALDI-TOF as the gold standard method for identification of different species and determining minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of different antibiotics by broth microdilution method (BMD) to suggest recommendations for treatment.
Materials And Methods: The study included 30 species isolates recovered from normally sterile sites of the human body and were subjected to identification by MALDI-TOF, Vitek-2c, and HiCrome Bacillus Agar.
Background: The aim of this study is investigate the antimicrobial effect of plant oils against bacterial strains isolated from neonatal asymptomatic bacteriuria (ABU) and to evaluate the antiseptic effect of the most potent one.
Methods: The antimicrobial effect of 17 plant oils were tested against 15- gram-negative bacterial strains recovered from cases of neonatal ABU (11 Escherichia. coli, 3 Klebsiella pneumonia, and 1 Pseudomonas aeruginosa) using the agar well diffusion method.
Background: Several SARS-CoV-2 variants with increased transmissibility and/or potential immune escape have emerged and rapidly spread worldwide. Ongoing surveillance analyses are performed worldwide to designate new variants of concern (VOC) of coronavirus.
Main Text: This report identifies the first Egyptian patient with a confirmed SARS-CoV-2 omicron variant.
Trans Fatty Acid (TFA) intake is a risk factor for coronary heart diseases and cancer. Egypt, considered among the highest TFA consumers in the world, lacks proper dietary analysis of TFAs. This cross-sectional study aimed to analyze TFAs in traditional and frequently consumed food products.

Material & Methods: 40 non-pregnant Wistar rats were divided into four groups: group I control (received 1 ml of 1% aqueous solution of (CMC)/d orally), group II letrozole-induced PCOS group (received letrozole 200 μg/d orally), group III vitamin D-treated group (received vitamin D 1000 IU/kg/d), group IV letrozole and vitamin D treated group (received letrozole and vitamin D as group II and group III for 90 days.
In March 2020, the SARS-CoV-2 virus outbreak was declared as a world pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO). The only measures for controlling the outbreak are testing and isolation of infected cases. Molecular real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays are very sensitive but require highly equipped laboratories and well-trained personnel.

Methods: Expression levels of miR-100 and miR-210 were assessed in bone marrow aspirate of 85 pediatric ALL patients compared to 12 healthy control using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. Data were correlated with relevant clinico-pathological features of the patients, response to treatment, disease-free survival (DFS), and overall survival (OS).
Objective: To describe the epidemiology of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) healthcare-associated infections (HAI) in Egyptian hospitals reporting to the national HAI surveillance system.
Methods: Design Descriptive analysis of CRE HAIs and retrospective observational cohort study using national HAI surveillance data Setting: Egyptian hospitals participating in the HAI surveillance system. The patient population included patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) in participating hospitals Enterobacteriaceae HAI cases were and isolates from blood, urine, wound or respiratory specimen collected on or after day 3 of ICU admission.
Evidence suggests that opioids can modulate gonadal function, with consequent decreased release of sex hormones. We attempted to investigate the sexual function of males using tramadol hydrochloride (HCL) and its relationship to levels of free testosterone, luteinizing hormone, and follicle stimulating hormone, and to compare them with heroin use disorder patients and healthy controls. Our sample consisted of 60 opiate use disorder patients (assessed by Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV Axis I) (30 heroin and 30 tramadol) and 30 healthy controls.

The study aimed to assess ANC utilization rates in Damietta district, Egypt and to identify the components of ANC provided and factors affecting utilization rates.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in four Family Health Centers (FHC) in Damietta district.
Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB) remains a huge worldwide burden, despite extensive vaccination coverage with the Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG), the only vaccine available against this disease, indicating that BCG-driven immunity is inadequate to protect the human population against TB. This underscore the critical necessitate to develop an improved TB vaccine, based on a better understanding of host-pathogen interactions and immune responses during mycobacterial infection.
Aim Of The Work: To examine whether the exogenous addition of IFN-β could improve dendritic cell (DC) response to Mycobacterium bovis (M.
Background: Health care-associated infections (HAIs) are a major global public health concern. The lack of surveillance systems in developing countries leads to an underestimation of the global burden of HAI. We describe the process of developing a national HAI surveillance program and the magnitude of HAI rates in Egypt.

Corynebacterium urealyticum is a Gram positive, slow-growing, lipophilic, multi-drug resistant, urease positive micro-organism with diphtheroid morphology. It has been reported as an opportunistic nosocomial pathogen and as the cause of a variety of diseases including but not limited to cystitis, pyelonephritis, and bacteremia among others. This review serves to describe C.

Inappropriate antibiotic use leads to increased risk of antibiotic resistance and other adverse outcomes. The objectives of the study were to determine the prevalence and characteristics of antibiotic use in Egyptian hospitals to identify opportunities for quality improvement. A point prevalence survey was conducted in 18 hospitals in March 2011.

The changes in plant growth, transpiration rate, photosynthetic activity, plant pigments, electrolyte leakage, H2O2 content, lipid peroxidation, catalase activity and endogenous content of abscisic acid (ABA) were followed in the leaves of two wheat varieties (sakha 93 and 94) during drought stress and subsequent rehydration. Drought stress caused several inhibitory changes in the growth of both wheat varieties, particularly in sakha 94. Exogenous ABA treatment improved the growth of sakha 93 plants as indicated by a higher relative water content, transpiration rate and lower electrolyte leakage and also enhanced the growth during the recovery period.
