More than 170 years after the synthesis of α-aminonitriles by the reaction of Strecker, α-phosphinonitriles, and α-arsenonitriles have been prepared and characterized by NMR and IR spectroscopy. For the simplest derivatives, the reaction was carried out by reaction of cyanomethyltributylstannane with phosphorus or arsenic trichloride, followed by a chemoselective reduction of the dichlorophosphine and dichloroarsine formed to the corresponding primary phosphine and arsine. The phosphinoacetonitrile can be stored at -80 °C for months in its pure state, but arsenoacetonitrile decomposes at this temperature.

Perioperative blood loss can increase this morbidity. Blood loss, as well as the influence that the surgical approach exerts on it, remains poorly evaluated.

These scores are collected during the follow-up of patients who have a hip disease. The objectives of this prospective study were (1) to analyze the differences between the two new French self-report versions of the HHS and MDP, and the traditional surgeon-assessed HHS and MDP; (2) to analyze the correlation between the self-report HHS and MDP and the surgeon-assessed HHS and MDP; (3) to analyze the floor and ceiling effects of the two self-report scores and the reliability of these self-report scores in operated and non-operated patients.

In civilian population, many studies have looked at the return to sport, but return to duty in Army is a topic that requires further research. The purpose of this study was to determine through annual military fitness tests in real conditions, the return to sport in soldiers after ACL reconstruction and factors influencing failure.

The objective of this study was to evaluate a microvascular surgery simulation model intended to prepare residents prior to their enrolment in conventional microsurgery degree training.
Methods: An experimental study was conducted to evaluate technical progress and satisfaction of military surgical residents using a model based on Japanese noodles with four tests of increasing difficulty.
Introduction: ACL ligamentoplasty with a quadruple semitindosus graft (ST4) and double adjustable endobutton (ST4E) allow the preservation of the gracilis, which should allow more rapid recovery of soldiers following ACL reconstruction. However, the literature does not report any superiority of this technique over others in terms of return to duty and sport.
Hypothesis: The ST4E system allows a return to military duty at least equivalent to the semitendinosus and gracilis graft (STG) with screw fixation.
Introduction: In this age of social media, with an ever-higher profile for surgery and rankings for the general public, patients' criteria for choosing a surgeon or team are not precisely known, especially in France. We therefore conducted a prospective study concerning anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction: (1) to determine how patients came to know their surgeon; (2) to identify factors affecting final choice.
Hypothesis: Patients' choice of surgeon is affected by scores found in social media and rankings found in the press.
A series of novel isoxazolidines based on benzaldehyde derivatives have been synthesized from the cycloaddition of chiral menthone-based nitrone and allyl phenyl ethers. All synthetic compounds were assessed for their in vitro PPA, HPA and HLAG inhibitory activity. The results revealed that all targets exhibited better inhibitory effect against PPA (12.

This experimental study sought to assess the feasibility of microvascular anastomosis in rats performed using loupes or smartphone magnification. Thirty rats were divided into three groups of 10 individuals according to the magnification method used: operating microscope (control group M), surgical loupes (group L) and smartphone (group S).

Microsurgery is an unusual procedure in the theatres of military operations. We sought to analyze the state of microsurgical practices in the French medical treatment facilities (MTFs) deployed around the world in the 21st century. A retrospective study was conducted among all patients who were operated on in French forward surgical facilities between 2003 and 2015.

We aimed to establish a correlation among the defect length, defect location, degree of knee flexion, and eventual need for hip immobilization in extension.
Methods: We performed an experimental study by completing bilateral dissection of the sciatic nerve in 6 cadavers.
Introduction: The development of damage control orthopedics (DCO) procedures has led to the development of temporary unicortical external fixators (TUEFs) intended to limit deep infectious complications and facilitate early conversion to internal fixation.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted in two French military trauma centers, including on patients being treated for tibial fractures with a TUEF (UNYCO - Orthofix) followed by an early conversion to intramedullary nailing.
Results: Eleven patients with an average age of 41 were included between September 2015 and June 2017.
1,3-Dipolar cycloaddition between a chiral nitrone and N-substituted maleimides afforded unprecedented enantiopure spiro-fused heterocycles in good yields with a high enantio- and diastereoselectivity. The reaction was taking place on the less hindered face of the nitrone. The obtaining heterocycles were screened for their in vitro antioxidant properties and the results revealed that the potent antioxidant activity was generally recorded to compounds (3g) and (3e).
