The study evaluated the effectiveness of the socket shield technique (SST) in preserving alveolar ridge dimensions without immediate dental implant placement.
In a clinical trial with 27 patients, the SST group showed better buccal-to-palatal crest dimension preservation, while the control group had better buccal plate thickness retention.
Results suggest that SST is a promising method for alveolar ridge maintenance, but further investigation is needed to understand factors affecting outcomes.
