One of the promising drug delivery tools is ferritin, which features high stability at a wide range of conditions and protects cargo by its spherical protein shell. We studied the self-assembly into homoglobules of ferritin from H. pylori and a chimeric protein ferritin-SUMO.

Radiographic evaluation is an essential complement to clinical assessment but has limitations such as the impossibility of assessing tissue inflammation. It seems essential to consider new exploration methods in clinical practice.

Ferritin is a universal protein complex responsible for iron perception in almost all living organisms and has applications from fundamental biophysics to drug delivery and structure-based immunogen design. Different platforms based on ferritin share similar technological challenges limiting their development - control of self-assembling processes of ferritin itself as well as ferritin-based chimeric recombinant protein complexes. In our research, we studied self-assembly processes of ferritin-based protein complexes under different expression conditions.

In contrast to the mitochondrial FF-ATP synthases, those of chloroplasts are known to be mostly monomers with approx. 15% fraction of oligomers interacting presumably non-specifically in a thylakoid membrane.

Glycated hemoglobin, HbA1c, as a cumulative retrospective marker of glycemic control in diabetic patients could be faulty in patients with hemoglobinopathy. Abnormal hemoglobin could introduce bias analytically during HbA1c measure but also due to its physiopathology by altering the lifespan of red blood cells and/or the normal glycation process.

Zinc deficiency could be critical since it is associated with a higher susceptibility to infections. We evaluated the prevalence of hypozincemia in the early stage of COVID-19, its association with risk factors for severe COVID-19 and its prognostic value for hospitalization for respiratory complications within 10 days.

This study aimed to develop an innovative prediction score using clinical and biological parameters (PREDICT score) to anticipate the need of intensive care of COVID-19 patients already hospitalized in standard medical units.
Methods: PREDICT score was based on a training cohort and a validation cohort retrospectively recruited in 2020 in the Marseille University Hospital.
Background: Many arguments suggest that neutrophils could play a prominent role in COVID-19. However, the role of key components of neutrophil innate immunity in severe forms of COVID-19 has deserved insufficient attention. We aimed to evaluate the involvement of neutrophil elastase, histone-DNA, and DNases in systemic and multi-organ manifestations of COVID-19.

Compound 2 showed moderate activity, with Epidermophyton floccosum being the most susceptible species (MIC = 100 microg/mL); compound 3 showed the best antifungal behavior having a broad spectrum of action and the lowest MICs. This flavanone along with flavanolol 5 showed very good activity against standardized (MIC = 31.

Background And Design: Topical antibiotics are one of the most common causes of allergic contact dermatitis and are frequently used in postoperative wound care. We prospectively followed up patients having cutaneous surgery to determine the frequency of allergic contact dermatitis to topical antibiotics used on postoperative wound care.
Results: Nine (4.
Tulip fingers, an allergic contact dermatitis from handling tulip bulbs, is a common occupational problem among workers in the European tulip industry. We describe five of nine workers who sort and package flower bulbs at a central Pennsylvania bulb distribution center; all five had tulip fingers confirmed by positive patch tests to pieces of tulip bulbs and to tuliposide A, the allergen in tulips. The diagnosis of tulip fingers should be considered in any patient with a hand dermatitis who works in the flower industry, especially those who frequently handle bulbs.
