Background/objectives: Facial asymmetry is gaining an increasing diagnostic interest in many clinical contexts. Several three-dimensional surface-based methods have been proposed for its assessment; however, they might provide non-equivalent data. Since there is a lack of comparative studies in these terms, this study aims to compare three methods for assessing the asymmetry of the face and facial thirds, thus addressing whether the potential differences can be considered clinically acceptable or not.

A balanced diet is a fundamental component of athletes' health, training, and performance. The majority of athletes choose adequate quantities of macronutrients but, at the same time, do not respect World Health Organization dietary guidelines, eating a lot of discretionary food and not drinking enough water. Athletes need more nutritional education to improve the quality of their food choice.

During reorganization of our emergency department to support patients presenting with coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 disease, we aimed to evaluate whether children play a role in intrahospital spread of the infection.

In the past month we recorded an outbreak of Kawasaki disease; we aimed to evaluate incidence and features of patients with Kawasaki-like disease diagnosed during the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic.
Methods: All patients diagnosed with a Kawasaki-like disease at our centre in the past 5 years were divided according to symptomatic presentation before (group 1) or after (group 2) the beginning of the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic.
Let's Count is a preschool mathematics intervention implemented by The Smith Family from 2012 to the present in "disadvantaged" communities across Australia. It is based on current mathematics and early childhood education research and aligns with the Australian Early Years Learning Framework. Let's Count has been shown to be effective in enhancing mathematics learning and dispositions of young children, early childhood educators, and families through a longitudinal evaluation undertaken from 2012 to 2015.

We tested best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), monocular and binocular constrast sensitivity (CS, Pelli - Robson chart) and retinal sensitivity with microperimetry, and acquired dense macular SD-OCT scans.

It is more effective when combined with nutritional care, which is sometimes complex, always ongoing and differs between surgical procedures. In Australia, the three most common bariatric surgical procedures are the adjustable gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy and the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.

However, the phenotypic heterogeneity of CTCs and their low numbers in the bloodstream of patients means that no standardized detection method currently exists for these cells. This, together with differences in pre-analytical sample processing, has led to the collection and accumulation of inconsistent data among independent studies.

The kainate receptor subunit GluR6 presents different splice variants involving the C-terminal domain, namely GluR6a, GluR6b and GluR6c. In this study, we report the analysis of the three human splicing isoforms and in particular of the uncharacterized hGluR6c.

The resulting need to further develop CTC detection-based systems for improved diagnosis, prognosis and assessment of therapy efficacy in tumour patients has prompted the application of different approaches, including expression analysis of tissue-specific and epithelial genes. In this context, lack of specificity of the analysed genes remains a fundamental problem for reliable CTC detection.

Background: Methotrexate-induced hepatotoxicity following chronic low-dose administration has been extensively reported. Current protocols now include high-dose methotrexate (HDMTX), but there are few studies providing data on its acute hepatotoxicity in childhood leukemia.
Methods: To evaluate the prevalence of HDMTX-induced acute hepatotoxicity, sixty-eight consecutive children with ALL were prospectively studied from diagnosis to the end of HDMTX courses with biochemical and clinical evaluation performed at regular intervals.
Zinc deficiency was observed in an infant receiving total parenteral nutrition (TPN) for chronic untractable diarrhoea. Clinical findings included low zinc plasma levels, skin lesions and loss of all the advantages of TPN such as weight gain, serum proteins and albumin increase and normalization of intestinal mucosa. Oral administration of zinc sulphate was the decisive factor making possible both the improvement of clinical and laboratory findings and alimentation by natural route.
