Objectives: To assess if a suprapatellar (SP) approach, when compared with an infrapatellar (IP) approach, yielded less patient-reported anterior knee pain and higher patellofemoral joint function at 6 weeks and 12 months postoperatively, when treating tibial fractures with intramedullary nailing.
Design: Prospective, parallel-group randomized control trial.
Setting: Tertiary level 1 trauma care center, Brisbane, Australia.
Objectives: To clinically validate a recently proposed classification scheme of post-traumatic bone defects.
Methods And Materials: Open fractures were classified utilising a newly introduced classification system. This classification system is based on plain radiographs, assessing the extent and local geometry of bone loss, including: D1 - Incomplete Defects; D2 - Minor/Sub-Critical (Complete) Defects (<2 cm); and D3 - Segmental/Critical Sized Defects (≥2 cm).
Sustainable and closed-loop nutrient cycling require the recovery of valuable resources from wastewater. Resource recovery from diluted wastewater streams is limited by diluted concentrations and unfavorable reaction kinetics. In comparison, source separated urine allows resource recovery from a highly concentrated nutrient stream, resulting in a more sustainable and efficient recovery practice.

Methods: Histologic evaluation was performed in 12 subjects undergoing 2-stage revision ACL reconstruction. In the first stage, the femoral and tibial tunnels were debrided, tunnel dimensions were measured, and tunnels were grafted with sCO-sterilized bone allograft.
Introduction: Osteoporotic tibial plateau fractures (TPFs) are difficult to treat with either open reduction internal fixation (ORIF) or acute total knee arthroplasty (TKA). They have high complication rates, poor outcomes and often fail in the short- to mid-term. We investigated the use of impaction bone grafting (IBG) as an adjunct to stabilise the fracture in a cohort of osteoporotic TPFs.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the use of the intra-operative clinical mechanical axis measurement and compare it to the post-operative weight bearing situation on standing whole leg radiographs (WLR). Secondly, we evaluated the preoperative planned wedge size and compared it to the final results in 27 HTOs.

However, it is not known if a direct relationship exists between varus thrust and forces in the anterior cruciate ligament.
Hypothesis: Forces in the anterior cruciate ligament increase with increasing varus alignment, and consequently an anterior cruciate ligament deficiency in a varus-aligned leg leads to more lateral tibiofemoral joint opening.
Purpose: Because our experience with the techniques used in denervation surgery of the wrist joint often has proven insufficient in treating chronic pain we conducted an anatomic study to clarify the exact contributions of the nerves supplying the wrist joint. Our goal was to reveal all periosteal and capsular nerve connections and if necessary adjust our technique used in denervation surgery.
Methods: Innervation of the wrist joint was investigated by microdissection and histologic examination of 18 human wrists.
Study Design: A case of a child with a traumatic atlanto-occipital dislocation (AOD), with unexpected secondary redislocation in a halo vest is presented. An extensive literature review was performed.
Objectives: To show the difficulties in diagnosing AOD, to emphasize its intrinsic instability, and to make recommendations for treatment of this condition.
