This study aims to assess the effects of violet light (392 nm) on the circadian rest-activity rhythm and the visual system through animal experimentation.
Materials And Results: Five groups of four mice were exposed to different white light, violet light, and dark periods, and their circadian rhythm was analyzed by measuring the circadian period using rest-activity cycles.
Motivated by feedback from firefighters in Normandy, this work aims to provide a simple technique for a set of identical drones to collectively describe an arbitrary planar virtual shape in a 3D space in a decentralized manner. The original problem involved surrounding a toxic cloud to monitor its composition and short-term evolution. Purpose: Bolus use during postmastectomy radiation therapy doubles the risk of grade 2 and 3 skin toxicity. Despite its unknown benefit, bolus is often prescribed during postmastectomy radiation therapy for patients without skin involvement.
Methods And Materials: For women with breast cancer receiving photon 3-dimensional conformal radiation therapy, bolus was used routinely for chest walls but was omitted for breast reconstructions by about half of radiation oncologists from 2007 to 2011.
Background: Ballet dancers, contortionists, gymnasts, or other sportspeople spend long hours performing stretches while training. Although most studies on stretching consider fascia lengthening to be difficult, athletes manage to lengthen their fascia.
Aim: To assess the relationship between lengthening fascial structures of the anterior compartment of the thigh and the self-reported sensation of discomfort and pain during a sustained and repeated high intensity stretch.
Combined administration of N-Methyl-D-Aspartate (NMDA) and kainic acid (KA) on the inner retina was studied as a model of excitotoxicity. The right eye of C57BL6J mice was injected with 1 µL of PBS containing NMDA 30 mM and KA 10 mM. Only PBS was injected in the left eye.

The retinal involvement of these disorders motivated us to generate a conditional knockout (cKO) mouse experiencing a Pomt1 intragenic deletion (exons 3-4) during the development of photoreceptors, mediated by the Cre recombinase expressed from the cone-rod homeobox (Crx) gene promoter. In this mouse, retinal α-DG was unglycosylated and incapable of binding laminin.

Methods: This observational, cross-sectional study included 24 adult amblyopes and 19 healthy subjects. The amblyopes were separated into three groups: anisometropic amblyopes (n = 15), strabismic amblyopes (n = 5), and strabismic amblyopes with anisometropia (n = 4).
Purpose: Diabetes mellitus (DM) affects corneal biomechanical parameters. We compared analyses using ORA (Ocular response analyser) and Corvis ST to determine the influence of disease duration, hyperglycaemia and haemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels on these parameters.
Methods: This observational, cross-sectional, observer-masked study assessed one eye of 94 consecutive DM patients and 41 healthy subjects.

Background: Retinal ganglion cell death underlies the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative disorders such as glaucoma or optic nerve trauma. To assess the potential influence of photoreceptor degeneration on retinal ganglion cell survival, and to evaluate functionality, we took advantage of the optic nerve section mouse model.
Methods: Surviving retinal ganglion cells were double-stained by exposing both superior colliculi to fluorogold, and by applying dextran-tetramethylrhodamine to the injured optic nerve stump.
