The article takes hedonism and revolution as a vantage point to discuss the Kommune 2, an experiment in collective living, the anti-authoritarian kindergardens for the under-fives, and, last but not least, a speech in 1968 that spurred the women's movement in Western Germany. The author's interest is on the materials documenting how the Berlin student movement saw psychoanalysis: One point was that the pleasure principle should replace the reality principle for the sake of humankind, another that the authoritarian character structure has its roots in the denial of sexuality. Kindergarden children supposedly need "de-individualized identification" to develop ego-strength, when boys and girls differ in their superego organization.

Patients And Methods: Medical records were scrutinized for children with UI. As a primary efficacy outcome variable the achievement of continence after treatment with variable doses of propiverine or oxybutynin was assessed.
We report on a 43-year-old patient presenting to the emergency department with acute abdominal pain the source of which turned out to be acute hemorrhagic jejunal infarction due to portal and mesenteric vein occlusion with no apparent cause. In spite of a lacking history of hereditary thrombophilic risk factors, further diagnostic procedures revealed heterozygous factor V Leiden mutation. Diagnosis, therapy and clinical course are described.

Many studies have demonstrated greater efficacy and tolerability of tacrolimus compared with cyclosporine with regard to these conditions. Our study investigated whether 30 patients with deteriorating renal function benefitted from conversion to tacrolimus based upon a retrospective analysis using data recorded from 3 years before to 3 years after conversion.

Mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) was added to a baseline regimen of prednisolone and CNI. Afterwards the patients were randomized into "CNI withdrawal" and "CNI continuation" groups.

Many studies have demonstrated beneficial effects of tacrolimus compared with cyclosporine with regard to these conditions. These results have suggested that conversion to tacrolimus from cyclosporine is advantageous.

It is especially important that hyperlipidaemia, hypertension and toxic influences should be avoided because these conditions can reduce patient and transplant survival. Many studies have demonstrated beneficial effects of tacrolimus in comparison with cyclosporine with regard to these conditions.

We conducted the first randomized, prospective study to compare the introduction of MMF with or without CNI withdrawal in long-term transplant recipients with histologically proven CAN and deteriorating renal function. The primary endpoint was renal function as indicated by the slope of the inverse serum creatinine vs.

Long-term antihypertensive treatment is obligatory for hypertensive transplant patients, to protect allograft function. The use of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors in the anti-hypertensive treatment of renal transplant recipients who receive immunosuppression with cyclosporine has long been discussed controversially.

Objective: This study was carried out to compare cardiac output measurements determined by thermodilution and by Portapres, a non-invasive system.
Design, Patients And Setting: Eighty-seven non-invasive blood pressure measurements were performed in 46 patients in our critical care unit utilising the new, non-invasive Portapres system. Cardiac output values were obtained from these blood pressure values using an aortic impedance model and compared to cardiac output values estimated by the thermodilution technique.
Background: The present study aimed to investigate the intact parathyroid hormone (iPTH)-dependent evolution of common carotid intima-media thickness (CC IMT) in renal transplant recipients (RTR) within a 12-month follow-up, ie, before (E0) and 3 months (E3), 6 months (E6), and 12 months after renal transplantation (RTX).
Methods: A total of 55 normotensive patients, aged 47 +/- 1.7 years, underwent a RTX.
With aging, morphologic organ changes due to arteriosclerosis, hypertension, or diabetes increase, and renal transplantation tends to become less successful. We analyzed the outcome of transplantation in 123 recipients who underwent renal transplantation between January 1988 and December 1989. We assessed patient and graft survival after 1, 5, and 6 years as well as mortality and transplant failure and the incidence of rejections.

We assessed the finger skin capillary blood flow in 20 premenopausal women with oral contraception noninvasively by Laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF). Blood flow was registered both under basal conditions and after 2 min of arterial occlusion.

This study provides evidence that, in contrast to atenolol, quinapril, independent of blood pressure reduction, reduces left ventricular hypertrophy and improves left ventricular diastolic function in this population.
