We have performed percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage on 27 patients; of these, thirteen were examined by CT before and after the procedure. Our experience suggests that CT or sonography is indicated every case of obstruction due to tumour in order to: 1. Decide on treatment by a non-invasive method thereby saving the patient an unnecessary laparotomy and 2.

To assess the natural history of Reiter's disease, we evaluated 131 consecutive patients at a university clinic or at a community center. One hundred twenty-two patients (93%) were available for follow-up at a mean of 5.6 years.

The experimental study utilized a two-group, before-after design. Twenty-nine geriatric subjects were randomly assigned to either the experimental or the control group. The single independent variable was the topical application of ten units of regular insulin (U.

Consecutive patients with documented flare following previous drug withdrawal were randomly assigned to one of 3 treatment groups: (1) sulindac given twice daily, (2) sulindac given 4 times daily, and (3) placebo. The dosage of sulindac, 100 to 300 mg daily, was adjusted according to patient global response and tolerance at 3- to 7-day intervals over 3 wk.

Changes in blood flow and blood redistribution were measured by impedance plethysmography in the pelvic and leg regions of six male and four female subjects during three 5-min exposures to -20, -40, and -60 mm Hg lower body negative pressure (LBNP). Female subjects demonstrated significantly higher mean heart rate and lower leg blood flow indices than the male subjects during the recumbent control periods. Men had slightly higher mean resting systolic and diastolic blood pressures and higher mean control pelvic blood flow indices.

The tolerance of the recipient eye has been studied: --in the case of homografts, --in the case of heterografts. The indications and limiting factors of the method are specified within the framework of the chosen experimental conditions, taking into account the rejection phenomena manifested in the case of the heterografts.

Decubitus ulcers of six experimental group subjects were treated with a topical application of ten units of regular insulin twice a day for five days; eight control group subjects received one of a variety of topical therapies other than insulin. Data were collected on all subjects for a 15-day period.
