Human colon cancer HT-29 cell death responses to doxorubicin and Morus Alba leaves flavonoid extract.

The mechanistic basis for the biological properties of Morus alba flavonoid extract (MFE) and chemotherapy drug of doxorubicin on human colon cancer HT-29 cell line death are unknown. The effect of doxorubicin and flavonoid extract on colon cancer HT-29 cell line death and identification of APC gene expression and PARP concentration of HT-29 cell line were investigated. The results showed that flavonoid extract and doxorubicin induce a dose dependent cell death in HT-29 cell line.

The objective of this study was to analyze the concentration of lead in milk of mothers during prolonged lactation. Milk samples from 43 mothers were collected at 2 months postpartum.

Effect of aqueous extract of Elaeagnus angustifolia fruit on experimental cutaneous wound healing in rats.

The present study was conducted to investigate the histological changes and wound healing effect of aqueous extract of Elaeagnus angustifolia. After creating full-thickness skin wounds on the back of 45 male Sprague-Dawley rats they were randomly divided into three groups. Treated group received the extract, positive control group were treated with mupirocin ointment 2% and control group did not receive any treatment.

The K121Q polymorphism of the ectoenzyme nucleotide pyrophosphate phosphodiesterase 1 (ENPP1) gene has been variably associated with insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes (T2D) in several populations. However, this association has not been studied in Iranian subjects and we hypothesized that the K121Q variant might be associated with T2D and related metabolic traits in this population. The K121Q genotypes were determined by PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism in 377 normoglycemic controls and 155 T2D patients.

Calcium release by diltiazem from isolated sarcoplasmic reticulum of rabbit skeletal muscle.

1. The effect of diltiazem on isolated sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) from rabbit skeletal muscle was studied. To observe calcium movement into and out of the SR, a fluorescent chelate probe technique with chlortetracycline (CTC) as a reagent was employed.

Effects of cold or restraint on incidence of gastric ulceration induced in rats by ulcerogenic drugs.

Exposure to cold (4degreesC) or restraint increased the incidence and severity of gastric ulceration induced after i.p. injection of phenylbutazone, aspirin and indomethacin but not of histamine.

Cyclic AMP and cyclic GMP levels in glandular stomach of restrained rats.

Cyclic AMP and cyclic GMP were measured in glandular stomach of rats subjected to saline administration, cold (4 degrees C), restraint and restraint+cold after 15, 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes. All animals subjected to restraint+cold had gastric ulceration after 2 hours. A significant but transient decrease in cAMP was observed 15 minutes after restraint+cold.
