Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is the most common liver disease worldwide, affecting 30% of the population in Western countries. MASLD is considered the hepatic manifestation of the metabolic syndrome, pathophysiologically underpinned by insulin resistance and frequently co-exists with hypertension, central obesity and dyslipidaemia. Currently, safe and effective pharmacotherapies for MASLD are limited, making weight loss with lifestyle changes the mainstay therapy.

Article Synopsis
  • Mantle Cell Lymphoma (MCL) is primarily caused by a genetic translocation that leads to overexpression of the CCND1 gene, and additional genetic changes are important for prognosis but are not routinely tested.
  • The study utilized fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) on lymph node samples to uncover cytogenetic changes in 28 MCL patients, comparing these results with immunohistochemical (IHC) biomarkers to assess the reliability of IHC as a screening tool.
  • The findings showed that while the CCND1-IGH fusion was present in nearly all samples, FISH revealed additional cytogenetic alterations; IHC was particularly effective in predicting the CCND1-IGH fusion but less reliable for
