Numerous brain imaging studies have reported white matter alterations in schizophrenia, but the lipidome analysis of the corresponding tissue remains incomplete. In this study, we investigated the lipidome composition of six subcortical white matter regions corresponding to major axonal tracks in both control subjects and schizophrenia patients. All six regions exhibited a consistent pattern of quantitative lipidome alterations in schizophrenia, involving myelin-forming and mitochondria associated lipid classes.

This study sought to compare levels of impairments in these phenomena and their associations with psychopathology in groups with eating disorders and psychosis. Participants with diagnoses of a schizophrenia spectrum disorder (SSD; n = 53), anorexia (n = 40), or bulimia (n = 40) were recruited from outpatient clinics.

Female gender is one of the major risk factor for dementia. The aim of our study was to compare serum concentration of some factors related to lipid metabolism and the immune system in patients with MCI and dementia.

Objective: To define a reproducible profile of lipid alterations in the blood plasma of patients with schizophrenia (SCZ) independent of demographic and environmental variables and to investigate its specificity in association with other psychiatric disorders, ie, major depressive disorder (MDD) and bipolar disorder (BPD).
This review is focused on several psychiatric disorders in which cognitive impairment is a major component of the disease, influencing life quality. There are plenty of data proving that cognitive impairment accompanies and even underlies some psychiatric disorders. In addition, sources provide information on the biological background of cognitive problems associated with mental illness.

Despite the importance of management of depression and anxiety in primary care facilities, the diagnostics and treatment of these disorders remain insufficient in the Russian Federation.
Aim: To explore whether the rates of referrals to psychiatrists and indicated pharmacological treatment received due to depression or anxiety among patients with CVD and DM will significantly change in primary healthcare facilities after the training of primary care physicians (PCPhs) to deal with comorbid depression and anxiety (including the algorithm for referral to a psychiatrist).
Introduction: Schizophrenia, although a debilitating mental illness, greatly affects individuals' physical health as well. One of the leading somatic comorbidities associated with schizophrenia is cardiovascular disease, which has been estimated to be one of the leading causes of excess mortality in patients diagnosed with schizophrenia. Although the shared susceptibility to schizophrenia and cardiovascular disease is well established, the mechanisms linking these two disorders are not well understood.

This has promoted the development of metacognitive approaches to psychotherapy that seek to assist persons in making sense of and managing their psychosocial challenges. One of these approaches, Metacognitive Reflection Insight Therapy (MERIT), has begun to be more broadly explored among adults with schizophrenia.

In this study we have examined the relationship between disturbances in two forms of awareness: cognitive insight and clinical insight by exploring whether their relationship is mediated by a third form of larger awareness: metacognition.
Methods: Participants were 41 outpatients with schizophrenia and 37 outpatients with early episode psychosis gathered in Moscow, Russia.
We investigated the associations of rs6280, rs6295, rs6265, rs16965628, and rs7322347 with schizophrenia in a case-control study, and associations of these genetic variants with several clinical features. We also investigated markers of inflammatory response (C-reactive protein, IL-2, IL-6, IL-10), the activity of leukocytic elastase (LE) and α1-proteinase inhibitor (a1-PI), antibodies to S100B and myelin basic protein (MBP) in schizophrenia. Clinical symptoms were assessed on three scales: Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale, The Bush - Francis Catatonia Rating Scale and Frontal Assessment Battery.

In this study we have examined the relationship between two forms of cognition: metacognition and social cognition among a sample with schizophrenia (n = 41), early episode psychosis (n = 37), and major depression (n = 30) gathered in Moscow, Russia.
Methods: Metacognition was assessed with the Metacognition Assessment Scale-Abbreviated.
Aim: Schizophrenia manifests differently in women and men. This disease starts at a young age, leads to disability at working age. The aim of our work was to study sex differences, association between social factors and different parameters of the clinical picture and the course of the disease.

One limitation of this work is that it has largely come from North America and Western Europe. To further the literature, we assessed symptoms using the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale and Metacognition using the Metacognitive Assessment Scale - Abbreviated in a sample of outpatients with prolonged schizophrenia (n = 41), early episode psychosis (n = 37) and major depression (n = 30) gathered in Moscow, Russia.
