Lichen planus is a chronic inflammatory, immunologically mediated mucocutaneous dermatosis. Lichen planus mucosae predominantly affects the oral cavity. Various trigger factors such as bacterial or viral infections, drugs or physical stimuli are discussed in the development of the disease.
