Automated breast ultrasound: Supplemental screening for average-risk women with dense breasts.

Objective: We review ultrasound (US) options for supplemental breast cancer screening of average risk women with dense breasts.

Conclusion: Performance data of physician-performed handheld US (HHUS), technologist-performed HHUS, and automated breast ultrasound (AUS) indicate that all are appropriate for adjunctive screening. Volumetric 3D acquisitions, reduced operator dependence, protocol standardization, reliable comparison with previous studies, independence of performance and interpretation, and whole breast depiction on coronal view may favor selection of AUS.

Radiologic-pathologic correlation of hepatocellular carcinoma treated with internal radiation using yttrium-90 microspheres.

Unlabelled: We present the correlation between radiologic and pathologic findings in HCC patients who underwent radioembolization with yttrium-90 ((90)Y) microspheres prior to resection or transplantation. Thirty-five patients with a total of 38 lesions who underwent liver explantation after (90)Y radioembolization were studied. Imaging surrogates following treatment were evaluated; the explants were examined for assessment of necrosis by pathology.
