Repurposing established non-cancer drugs for the treatment of cancer offers potential benefits such as speed of clinical translation and financial efficiencies. In this study, we assess the landscape of repurposing drugs for combined use with radiotherapy (RT) based on their capacity to increase tumour radiosensitivity. Using a literature-based approach, we identified 42 radiosensitising drugs with varied non-cancer indications and mechanisms of action, that have entered or completed clinical trials in combination with RT or with chemoradiotherapy.

We have developed consensus-based recommendations for preclinical and clinical assessment of novel and established radiotracers, applied to image different cancer types, to improve the standardisation of translational methodologies and accelerate clinical implementation.
Methods: A consensus process was developed using the RAND/UCLA Appropriateness Method (RAM) to gather insights from a multidisciplinary panel of 38 key stakeholders on the appropriateness of preclinical and clinical methodologies and stakeholder engagement for PET radiotracer translation.
Oxygen-enhanced MRI (OE-MRI) has shown promise for quantifying and spatially mapping tumor hypoxia, either alone or in combination with perfusion imaging. Previous studies have validated the technique in mouse models and in patients with cancer. Here, we report the first evidence that OE-MRI can track change in tumor oxygenation induced by two drugs designed to modify hypoxia.
