Clinically proven Lactobacillus acidophilus strain LBKV-3 intended as probiotic for humans was used to test its effect on fecal residual lactase activity in undernourished children below 10 years of age. The children were selected from malnutrition-declared area of Maharashtra (India). One of the major causes of malnutrition is lactose intolerance which leads to diarrhea.
