Article Synopsis
  • The rise in midface and temporal lifting procedures is driven by social media trends and younger patients' desire for beautification rather than traditional rejuvenation, favoring scarless techniques.
  • A retrospective study of 184 patients utilizing a dual-plane lifting method showed significant improvements in facial volume distribution post-surgery with manageable complications.
  • This dual-plane approach minimizes visible scars and enhances facial aesthetics, making it a viable option for those seeking both beauty and rejuvenation, despite some risks like infection.

This study aimed to produce zinc oxide nanoparticles with Calendula officinalis flower extract (Co-ZnO NPs) using the green synthesis method. In addition, the antioxidant and wound healing potential of synthesized ZnO NPs were evaluated. The absorbance band at 355 nm, which is typical for ZnO NPs, was determined from the UV-Vis absorbance spectrum.

In this study, the shift scheduling problem of the personnel who maintain the 324 trains operating on the lines of the Ankara Metro, which carry approximately 10 million passengers per month, is discussed. In the problem, daily personnel needs and personnel qualifications are evaluated together according to the fault prediction. Firstly, a total of 1721 fault data for 181 days is analyzed, and the prediction is made according to 8 prediction methods.

Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), which have recently gained attention due to their antimicrobial activity, can also be produced by green synthesis. The aims of this study were to (i) characterise green synthesized AgNPs using microwave-assisted aqueous extracts of (G-AgNPs) and (H-AgNPs) and (ii) investigate the combined antimicrobial effects of the G- and H-AgNPs in different ratios. Nanoparticle formation and reactions were determined with UV-Vis spectroscopy.

Cardiovascular risk factors aggregate in determined individuals. Patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) have higher cardiovascular This study aimed to investigate insulinresistance (IR) and β-cell function using the homeostasis model assessment (HOMA) indexes in a general Kazakh population and determine the effect he effect that cardiovascular factors may have on those indexes. We conducted a cross-sectional study among employees of the Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University (Turkistan, Kazakhstan) aged between 27 and 69 years.

Introduction: Dressing changes and wound care-debridement procedures often cause fear and anxiety in burn patients, as these processes are quite painful. In order to determine the best method for alleviating pain during these procedures, the current study compared the efficacy and safety of intravenous dexmedetomidine and midazolam for premedication prior to these painful burn care procedures.

Methods: This comparative and randomized study included patients who had a burn size of 1563%, were aged 1870 years, were diagnosed with the American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status (ASA I-II), and who underwent painful burn care procedures.

Background: In this study, the μ-Opioid receptor activity was assessed pre-operatively for its association with postoperative pain level and second analgesic requirement in patients undergoing septoplasty.

Methods: In our prospective study, 120 adult patients underwent septoplasty from June 2015 to January 2019 were randomly divided into 2 pre-operative groups. The first group (n = 60) was patients given tramadol (1-2 mg/kg) for post-operative analgesia, and the second group (control group) (n = 60) was initially prescribed only fentanyl (1 μg/ kg-i.

: Clinical disease activity in multiple sclerosis (MS) may manifest as predominant involvement of optic nerves and spinal cord, as exemplified by opticospinal multiple sclerosis (OSMS) often encountered in Asian countries. Our aim was to compare the clinical features, neuropsychological profile and cytokine/chemokine levels of patients with conventional MS (CMS) and MS presenting predominantly with spinal cord and optic nerve attacks (MS-SCON). Cross-sectional study.

Purpose: Multiple sclerosis (MS) patients whose first demyelinating event is optic neuritis have been claimed to display a milder disease course and reduced physical disability. Our aim was to investigate the impact of the clinical features of the first clinical episode on cognitive disability and sleep dysfunction in MS.

Methods: A total of 26 (10 with optic neuritis as the first clinical event) MS patients were recruited.

This study aimed to evaluate color masking effect from treatments with resin infiltrant and two different remineralization agents applied with microabrasion to anterior teeth with developmental enamel defects. The incisors of patients aged 8-17 were evaluated. The study involved two groups including fluorosis (Group 1) and hypomineralization (Group 2) cases.

Objective: Diencephalon is frequently affected in multiple sclerosis (MS), and lesions of this region are associated with increased disability. Orexin-A and melatonin, two foremost mediators of diencephalon, modulate cognitive and motor functions through several pathways including the brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF)-cAMP response element-binding protein (CREB) signaling pathway. In this pilot study, our aim was to investigate the prognostic value of these factors in progression of cognitive and physical disability.

Background: Cognitive impairment (CI) is a common problem in multiple sclerosis (MS), may occur either in early or late phase of the disease, and impairs quality of life.

Objectives: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of CI and related risk factors in relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS) patients in Turkey.

Methods: The present cross-sectional, multi-center, and nationally representative study included RRMS patients.

Objectives: Cervical cancer is the second most common type of cancer for women worldwide with a great proportion proved to be related to human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. As infection with HPV is the strongest risk factor for cervical neoplasia, detection of HPV genotypes in cervical and vaginal specimens of women with normal and abnormal cytology seems to be of paramount importance in cervical cancer screening. The objective of the study is to evaluate the prevalence and HPV genotypes among women with normal or abnormal Pap smear tests.

Introduction: Prolactin has been discussed as a factor likely to play a mediating role in multiple sclerosis (MS). Our aim was to investigate the possible association between prolactin production and clinical features of autoimmune demyelinating central nervous system disorders.

Methods: Serum prolactin levels of 255 MS patients, 19 neuromyelitis optica (NMO) patients, 15 clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) patients, and 240 healthy controls were measured by a heterogeneous sandwich magnetic separation assay.

A 35-year-old woman presented with a three-month history of left groin and thigh pain. Neurological examination and electromyography showed pathological features consistent with obturator nerve involvement. Imaging studies revealed a left retroperitoneal mass, which by pathological examination was shown to be metastatic adenocarcinoma of possible Mullerian origin.

Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common endocrine disorders of women during the reproductive period. Cardiovascular risk factors are more frequent in patients with PCOS. We aimed to investigate the P-wave dispersion (Pd), inter- and intra-atrial conduction time and mechanical functions of the left atrium (LA) in patients with PCOS.

Since some neurological disorders present with increased body-mass index (BMI) and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) oligoclonal bands (OCB), obesity-induced inflammation has been previously speculated in formation of OCB. We investigated the association between BMI, OCB formation and clinical features of MS in 120 patients with relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS), a disease with high OCB positivity incidence. Thirty RRMS patients had BMI≥30 and 100 patients displayed CSF OCB.
