Reducing penumbral blur in computed tomography by learning the inverse finite focal spot model.

Penumbral blur is one of the major limitations of the high spatial resolution micro-CT, due to a nonideal large focal spot. Penumbral blur hinders the ability to resolve small features that may only be a few pixels in size. Reducing the focal spot size by decreasing the x-ray tube power is a straightforward solution, but it leads to prolonged scan durations.

Research on hot cracking in laser welding of Al-contaminated CoCrFeMnNi high-entropy alloys.

To study the thermal cracking susceptibility of laser-welded CoCrFeMnNi high-entropy alloys, stainless steel and aluminum alloy plates were each used as backing for welding. The microstructure of the weld and morphology of the fracture were examined. In addition, the chemical compositions of the fractures, the interfacial tension between the CoCrFeMnNi high-entropy alloy and liquid aluminum alloy, and the linear expansion coefficient of the CoCrFeMnNi high-entropy alloy were determined.

As a result, the components should be subjected to a normalizing heat treatment in order to recover their mechanical properties. In this study, the submerged-arc welding of the high strength low alloy (HSLA) thick steel plate(13MnNiMoR) is adapted for the vessel head under the normalizing and tempering heat treatment.
