Neuroblastoma (NB), a common infantile neuroendocrine tumor, presents a substantial therapeutic challenge when MYCN is amplified. Given that the protein structure of N-Myc is disordered, we utilized Alphafold for prediction and GROMACS for optimization of the N-Myc structure, thereby improving the reliability of the predicted structure. The publicly available datasets GSE49710 and GSE73517 were adopted, which contain the transcriptome data of clinical samples from 598 NB patients.

The leaching and vertical migration risks of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) from fertilized soil to groundwater poses a significant threat to ecological and public safety. Insect fertilizer, particularly black soldier fly organic fertilizer (BOF), renowned for its minimal antibiotic resistance, emerge as a promising alternative for sustainable agricultural fertilization. This study employs soil-column leaching experiments to evaluate the impact of BOF on the leaching behavior of ARGs.

Background: Immunosenescence, the gradual deterioration of the immune system, is critical for aging-related diseases. However, the lack of detailed population-level immune data has limited our understanding, underscoring the need for innovative analytical approaches. The Health and Retirement Study (HRS) in the United States provides a unique opportunity to examine T and B lymphocyte subsets using compositional data analysis and dimension reduction techniques.

Background: Conventional microbial testing (CMTs) for infectious pathogens faces challenges in rapid and comprehensive detection. Nanopore-targeted sequencing (NTS) is a novel approach for rapid identification of pathogens; however, clinical experience with the application of NTS is limited.

Methods: We evaluated the diagnostic value of NTS for detecting microbes in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid samples in patients with pulmonary infectious disease (PID, 137 cases), non-pulmonary infectious disease (NPID, 32 cases), or with an unknown etiology (11 cases).

The adverse effects of microplastics (MPs) and nanoplastics (NPs) on plant growth have gained significant attention. However, the response of tobacco plants to polypropylene microplastics (PP-MPs) remains poorly understood. To address this, a microcosm experiment was conducted in which tobacco seedlings were exposed to PP-MPs at varying concentrations (100 and 1000 mg/kg) and particle sizes (20 nm and 100 µm) for 48 days in red soil.

Dynamic assessment of cerebral blood flow (CBF) is crucial for the prevention and treatment of cerebrovascular diseases. Near-field coupling (NFC), due to its non-invasive and continuous advantages, holds significant promise in the dynamic assessment of CBF compared to traditional detection methods. However, challenges related to individual differences persist.

Background: This study aimed to examine the effects of exercise on pulse wave velocity (PWV) in hypertensive and prehypertensive patients.

Methods: A comprehensive search was performed in PubMed, Cochrane, Embase, Scopus, and Web of Science, covering data up to August 31, 2023. A meta-analysis was conducted to determine the weighted mean difference (WMD) and 95% confidence interval for the effects of exercise on PWV in hypertensive and prehypertensive patients.

Numerous studies have investigated the effects of exercise on post-stroke depression (PSD), yet the findings remain inconclusive. This study aims to evaluate the impact of exercise on depressive symptoms in stroke patients and to identify the most effective exercise protocols for this population. A systematic review of the Embase, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, and Scopus databases was conducted, with a search cutoff date of 13 September 2024.

Background: The emergence of targeted therapies and immunotherapy has broadened treatment options for patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Despite this, traditional drug selection, predominantly relies on tumor markers and clinical staging, has underutilized these drugs due to ignoring patient genomic diversity. Patient-derived organoids (PDOs) and corresponding patient-derived organoid xenograft (PDOX) models offer a way to better understand and address this.

We conducted a retrospective analysis of the impact of indocyanine green (ICG) on perioperative outcomes in partial nephrectomy. The utility of ICG in partial nephrectomy remains unclear. We performed a retrospective cohort study of all patients at a single institution who underwent laparoscopic or robotic partial nephrectomy in 2014-2019.

Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) infection leads to immunosuppression and clinical symptoms in piglets, including vomiting, watery diarrhea, dehydration, and even death. Mitophagy sustains mitochondrial energy homeostasis and quality through the removal of damaged mitochondria. However, PEDV disrupts mitochondrial homeostasis, which affects cellular energy supply and reproduction.

Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze the detection and epidemiological characteristics of common influenza viruses (IVA/IVB) and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in a teaching hospital in Shanghai from 2017 to 2023, and to investigate the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on the transmission and detection rates of these viruses.

Methods: Retrospective analysis of IVA/IVB and RSV cases detected in hospitals from 2017 to 2023. Data was categorized into pre, during and post outbreaks based on the timing of the COVID-19 outbreak and further subdivided by season and age group.

Solubility is a key biophysical property of proteins and is essential for evaluating the effectiveness of proteins in biochemical engineering. In recent years, the prediction method of protein solubility has received extensive attention in the protein engineering research community. Many methods have been developed to predict protein solubility, but the generalization performance of existing prediction methods on independent test sets must be improved.

Based on the size effect, end effect, and burst tendency of rocks, this paper designs and conducts a series of uniaxial compression laboratory experiments and numerical simulation experiments to explore the influence of these factors on the mechanical properties of rocks. Dense, hard, and brittle red sandstone was used in the experiments, and specimens with different heights, cross-sectional areas, and cubic volumes were prepared. By measuring stress-strain curves, uniaxial compressive strength, and other physical and mechanical parameters, the effects of size effect on rock strength and failure modes were analyzed.

Flexible metal-organic cages can provide confined active metal sites and show promise in mimicking metalloenzymes. In this study, we synthesized two flexible chiral bimetallic coordination cages, [(PEt)Pt(,,-)] and its enantiomer, through the self-assembly of platinum(II) precursors with enantiopure tripodal vanadium(V) complexes bearing pendant pyridyl groups (). The cages show guest binding with chiral camphorsulfonate anions, concomitant with changes in the cage conformation.

Numerous risk factors for oesophageal cancer are linked to lifestyle habits, but the role of early-life factors in its incidence and mortality is unclear. Using UK Biobank data, we explore the association among breastfeeding, maternal smoking, smoking in offspring, and oesophageal cancer risk in adult offspring via multivariable Cox regression. Here, we show that being breastfed, compared with not being breastfed, is associated with a lower risk of oesophageal cancer incidence (HR: 0.

Tactile interfaces are essential for enhancing human-machine interactions, yet achieving large-scale, precise distributed force sensing remains challenging due to signal coupling and inefficient data processing. Inspired by the spiral structure of and the processing principles of neuronal systems, this study presents a digital channel-enabled distributed force decoding strategy, resulting in a phygital tactile sensing system named PhyTac. This innovative system effectively prevents marker overlap and accurately identifies multipoint stimuli up to 368 regions from coupled signals.

Sonodynamic therapy (SDT) is an efficient non-invasive strategy for treating breast cancer. However, the therapeutic efficacy of SDT is greatly limited by various defense mechanisms in the tumor microenvironment, particularly the overexpression of B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2). In this study, based on drug self-delivery systems, a carrier-free ultrasound-responsive polyphenol nanonetwork (GTC) was developed to enhance SDT by inhibiting Bcl-2.
