Persuasion plays a crucial role in human communication. Yet, convincing someone to change their mind is often challenging. Here, we demonstrate that a subtle linguistic device, generic-you (i.

Knowledge of the occurrence and behavior of natural hydrogen on Earth has been combined with information from geologic analogs to construct a mass balance model to predict the resource potential. Given the associated uncertainty, stochastic model results predict a wide range of values for the potential in-place hydrogen resource [10 to 10 million metric tons (Mt)] with the most probable value of ~5.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of a multi-institutional database of robotic ureteral reconstruction for patients undergoing RU-BMG. Surgical success was defined as freedom from additional interventions for recurrent ureteral stenosis, such as stent placement, balloon dilation, or further attempts at reconstruction.
Generic statements (e.g., "Ducks lay eggs") provide generalizations about kinds that can be judged as true, even in the face of exceptions.

The only studies in urology patients to suggest this finding did not assess differences based on incision site. Our study evaluated SP, MP, incision location, age, gender, and prior abdominal surgery as predictors of cosmesis and scar consciousness for reconstructive procedures.

A total of 174 children ages 5-6 and 9-10 were randomly assigned to one of three conditions: Jazz (participants watched a video regarding a transgender child named Jazz), Blue (participants watched a video regarding a marker that looked red on the outside but inside was really blue) and control (no video). Both videos described the main character as feeling different inside than outside, and their social transition to their preferred identity; researcher scaffolding supported the video messages.

Despite increases in visibility, gender-nonconforming young people continue to be at risk for bullying and discrimination. Prior work has established that gender essentialism in children correlates with prejudice against people who do not conform to gender norms, but to date no causal link has been established. The present study investigated this link more directly by testing whether children's gender essentialism and prejudice against gender nonconformity can be reduced by exposure to anti-essentialist messaging.

We recruited 175 predominantly white children ages 5-12 and their parents (N = 112) and asked which of two individuals (differing in age, gender, race, social class, or personality) was more likely to get sick with either COVID-19 or the common cold and why. Children and parents reported that older adults were more likely to get sick than younger adults, but reported few differences based on gender, race, social class, or personality.

However, these models overlook decades of research into biophysical factors governing protein function. We propose Mutational Effect Transfer Learning (METL), a protein language model framework that unites advanced machine learning and biophysical modeling.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) lacks a clear understanding of the disease's pathogenesis and effective treatments thus producing frustration among providers and patients, leading to the stigmatization of the disease and the patients with the syndrome. A literature search was performed to make a hermeneutical review on empathic patient-provider communication and IBS. The relationship is defined by partners being dependent on one another in the pursuit of obtaining good outcomes.

Hearing generic or other kind-relevant claims can influence the use of information from direct observations in category learning. In the current study, we ask how both adults and children integrate their observations with testimony when learning about the causal property of a novel category. Participants were randomly assigned to hear one of four types of testimony: generic, quantified "all", specific, or only labels.

American political parties continue to grow more polarized, but the extent of ideological polarization among the public is much less than the extent of perceived polarization (what the ideological gap is believed to be). Perceived polarization is concerning because of its link to interparty hostility, but it remains unclear what drives this phenomenon. We propose that a tendency for individuals to form broad generalizations about groups on the basis of inconsistent evidence may be partly responsible.

However, data describing effective large-scale antimicrobial stewardship program (ASP) interventions to improve UTI and asymptomatic bacteriuria (ASB) management in the ED are lacking. We implemented a multifaceted intervention across 23 community hospital EDs in Utah and Idaho consisting of in-person education for ED prescribers, updated electronic order sets, and implementation/dissemination of UTI guidelines for our healthcare system.

We implemented multidisciplinary tele-COVID rounds plus tele-antibiotic stewardship surveillance in 17 SCHs to standardize COVID management and evaluate concurrent antibiotics for discontinuation. Antibiotic use was compared in the 4 months preintervention versus 10 months postintervention.

IRIS anatomical visualization software generates a segmented 3D model, allowing improved visualization of the tumor and surrounding structures. We hypothesize that using IRIS intraoperatively during partial nephrectomy on complex tumors increases the precision of surgical procedures and therefore may result in more tissue preservation.
