In 26 patients (female 11, males--15) with diabetic angiopathy (necrosis of the foot or toes) local measurement of pO2 by transcutaneous mode was carried out before and during introduction of serotonine adipinate. Simultaneously with evaluation of pO2 in 14 patients electromyography (EMG) was made. Serotonine adipinate was introduced intravenously with a speed of 5.

The authors emphasize clinicomorphological alterations in the spinal cord, particularly in the cervical segments, where almost complete absence of cells and reactivity of glial elements were observed.

Brain biopsies after the surgery and early necropsies served as the material. RNA synthesis in some neurons and glial cells is retained to some degree 8-13 hours after death.

Plastic pipette tips were used as thin walled, high surface to volume-ratio tubes, to increase the rate of heating (cooling) of 20 microliters samples, which allowed the time required for DNA amplification to be considerably reduced (5-10 times).

In all sera the majoric antigens had molecular masses of 150-200kD, 70kD and 50kD. No consistent differences were found between ALS patients and controls.

Groups of burn-prone (working class males, alcohol abusers, burned drunk, violating safety measures, with concomitant somatic and brain disorders and maladjustment) and non-prone individuals were elucidated. Shifts in Spielberger's state and trait anxiety scores depend on the damage of their somatic and nervous "underground".

The article discusses experience in the examination of 109 patients with chronic calculous pancreatitis (CCP), 102 of them were treated by operation (a total of 130 operations were carried out). Calculous cholecystitis was a consequence of alcohol intake in 102 cases, and was due to other causes in 7 cases. In 71% of cases CCP was attended by the development of indirect signs of pancreatic hypertension and in 45.

The efficacy of various types of psychotropic therapy was comparatively assessed in patients with burns and borderline neuro-psychic disorders. The efficacy of therapy was determined using standard uniform scales for the evaluation of the effect of psychotropic agents and by analysis of statistical indexes of the heart rhythm and respiratory pattern. Psychotropic therapy significantly reduced psychopathological symptoms and a more marked normalization of autonomous body functions was observed.

Molecule of bovine brain kinesin is a heterotetrameric unit consisting of two heavy (120 kDa) and two light (62 kDa) chains. We used limited proteolysis to study the location of the functional sites on the kinesin molecule.

A total of 130 patients were treated in a burn unit of a hospital. Three stages of neurosis-like disorders were noted: (1), acute stress reaction close in its structure to prodromal phase of exogenous psychoses and approximately coinciding with the burn shock; (2), formation and dissolution of psychopathologic syndromes (asthenic, depressive and asthenic-depressive), resembling the so-called "transitional" syndromes coinciding with toxemias and septic pyemias; (3), late psychogenesis (mobilization, pseudoeuphoric and hypochondriac).

View Article and Find Full Text PDFFunctional properties of the protein complex from bovine brain that shortens actin filaments are described. In the presence of Ca2+ complex shortens actin filaments and increases the initial rate of actin polymerization. In the absence of free calcium ions the complex loses its accelerating effect on actin polymerization, but still possesses actin filament shortening activity.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe method of isolation from bovine brain of a preparation containing 90 kDa- and 42 kDa-proteins is described. This preparation shortens actin filaments and therefore decreases viscosity of F-actin. The 42 kDa-component was identified as actin by one-dimensional peptide mapping.

Permeabilized cilia of glycerol-extracted cells can be easily reactivated by exogenous ATP. This method was used for the study of ciliary dyskinesia in patients with chronic lung diseases.
