Background: Plasma cell-free Human Papillomavirus DNA (cfHPVDNA) is a biomarker for oropharyngeal carcinoma. Existing diagnostics may be limited by inadequate sensitivity or high cost/complexity for longitudinal monitoring.
Objectives: We hypothesized that sensitive and specific plasma cfHPVDNA detection may be achieved via a highly-multiplex qPCR method.
Synaptic mechanisms that contribute to human memory consolidation remain largely unexplored. Consolidation critically relies on sleep. During slow wave sleep, neurons exhibit characteristic membrane potential oscillations known as UP and DOWN states.

The presence of non-coding RNAs, such as microRNAs (miRNAs), in mitochondria has been reported by several studies. The biological roles and functions of these mitochondrial miRNAs ("mitomiRs") have not been sufficiently characterized, but the mitochondrial localization of miRNAs has recently gained significance due to modified mitomiR-populations in certain states of diseases. Here, we describe the isolation and analysis of mitochondrial RNAs from rat liver tissue and HepG2 cells.

Here, we describe a new mechanistic link between mitochondria and cardiac morphogenesis, uncovered by studying mitochondrial citrate carrier (SLC25A1) knockout mice. Slc25a1 null embryos displayed impaired growth, mitochondrial dysfunction and cardiac malformations that recapitulate the congenital heart defects observed in 22q11.

Prior clinical reports suggest antibiotic-impregnated beads may be used to attempt salvage of the graft and improve outcomes, especially if explant would result in major amputation or mortality. Described is our institutional experience managing inguinal VSSI using bioabsorbable, antibiotic-impregnated beads compared to inguinal VSSI managed with debridement alone.

A novel RNA-binding protein, Pro-rich Coiled-coil Containing Protein 2B (PRRC2B), has been reported by multiple laboratories to mediate uORF-dependent and independent regulation of translation initiation required for cell cycle progression and proliferation. We identified two alternative spliced isoforms in human and mouse hearts and HEK293T cells, full-length (FL) and exon 16-excluded isoform ΔE16.

Updates of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines are required to generate immunity in the population against constantly evolving SARS-CoV-2 variants of concerns (VOCs). Here we describe three novel in-silico designed spike-based antigens capable of inducing neutralising antibodies across a spectrum of SARS-CoV-2 VOCs. Three sets of antigens utilising pre-Delta (T2_32), and post-Gamma sequence data (T2_35 and T2_36) were designed.

Fifteen children underwent two (n = 8), three (n = 3), or four or more (n = 3) resections (total = 38 procedures), most commonly for osteosarcoma (71%). Operative approach included muscle-sparing thoracotomy (71%), non-muscle-sparing thoracotomy (18%), and video-assisted thoracoscopy (11%).

This study aimed to compare a large cohort of TREO and non-TREO endografts over a mid-term follow-up and compare abdominal aortic aneurysm sac regression. The hypothesis was that TREO endografts have an increased sac regression by 24 mo.

We report mechanistic insights into the immunogenicity of mRNA-4157 via characterization of T-cell responses to neoantigens from the first-in-human, phase 1, KEYNOTE-603 study (NCT03313778) in patients with resected non-small cell lung cancer (Part A: 1-mg mRNA-4157, n = 4) or resected cutaneous melanoma (Part D: 1-mg mRNA-4157 + 200-mg pembrolizumab, n = 12). Safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity were assessed.

We demonstrate the binding of a thio-dapoxyl analog via formation of a protonated imine between an active site lysine residue and the chromophore's aldehyde. Rational manipulation of the electrostatics of the binding pocket results in a 204 nm shift in absorption and a 131 nm shift in emission.

This task becomes particularly challenging in children due to multiple breath-holds.
Objective: To assess the diagnostic performance of accelerated 3-RR cine MRI sequences using deep learning reconstruction compared with standard 2-D cine bSSFP sequences.
In dense particle systems, the coupling of rotation and translation motion becomes intricate. Here, we report the results of confocal fluorescence microscopy where simultaneous recording of translational and rotational particle trajectories from a bidisperse colloidal dispersion is achieved by spiking the samples with rotational probe particles. The latter consist of colloidal particles containing two fluorescently labeled cores suited for tracking the particle's orientation.

Inspired by general surgery acute care surgery models, we sought to organize the care of vascular emergencies with the implementation of a vascular acute care surgery (VACS) model. Within this model, a surgeon is in-house without elective cases and assigned for consultations and urgent operative cases on a weekly basis.

Objective: To investigate the tolerability, PFS, OS, and patient-reported outcomes with nivolumab (approved standard of care for patients with HNSCC) during and after IMRT reirradiation.
Design, Setting, And Participants: In this multicenter nonrandomized phase 2 single-arm trial, the treatment outcomes of patients with recurrent or second primary HNSCC who satisfied recursive partitioning analysis class 1 and 2 definitions were evaluated.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) and schizophrenia (SCZ) represent two major neuropathological conditions with a high disease burden. Despite their distinct etiologies, patients suffering from AD or SCZ share a common burden of disrupted memory functions unattended by current therapies. Recent preclinical analyses highlight cell-type-specific contributions of parvalbumin interneurons (PVIs), particularly the plasticity of their cellular excitability, towards intact neuronal network function (cell-to-network plasticity) and memory performance.

The advent of immune checkpoint inhibitors has changed the treatment algorithm of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma and are approved in the frontline setting for recurrent and metastatic (R/M) head and neck squamous cell carcinomas. Although promising for some patients, most patients with R/M HNSCC do not derive clinical benefit from currently approved checkpoint inhibitors.

This study compared the financial and clinical outcomes of PMEGs to the Cook Zenith-Fenestrated (ZFEN) graft and open surgical repair (OSR).
Methods: A retrospective review of financial and clinical data was performed for all patients who underwent endovascular or OSR of juxtarenal aortic aneurysms and TAAAs from January 2018 to December 2022 at an academic medical center.
