This study aimed to evaluate the biological and mechanical properties of the poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) denture base material as a vehicle incorporating novel hydroxyapatite nanoparticles (HA-NP) loaded with metronidazole (MZ) drug. HA-NP was prepared via wet-chemical-method, characterized by XRD, SEM/EDX, TEM, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), as well as the measurement of surface area and pore-size distribution. Four drug delivery formulas were prepared in the form of discs (10 x 2 mm) as follows: F1 (MZ/ HA-NP/PMMA), F2 (HA-NP/ PMMA), F3 (control-PMMA) and F4 (MZ/PMMA).

Different compositions of copper oxide (CuO)-doped calcium silicate clusters were used to treat the cancer cells. The influence of CuO content on the morphology, drug delivering ability, physicochemical properties and cytotoxicity was investigated. The microcrystalline structure revealed the decrement of the size from (20-36 nm) to (5-7 nm) depending on the copper content percentages.

The objective of the present study was to synthesize and characterize chitosans with different degrees of deacetylation (DDA%), prepare chitosan microspheres with controlled chemistry and geometry, and fabricate three-dimensional (3-D) chitosan matrices based on microspheres with appropriate pore size, porosity and mechanical properties suitable for bone tissue engineering applications. Chitosans with three DDA% of 69%, 79% and 97% were obtained using a thermomechanochemical technique by varying the applied pressure and NaOH solution concentration. The prepared chitosans were comprehensively characterized by proton nuclear magnetic resonance, elemental analysis, viscosity measurements, thermal analyses and X-ray diffraction.
