Aim: Gonadotropin stimulation is used as the second line of treatment in patients with thin endometrium following clomiphene citrate (CC) administration, which is associated with higher cost, multiple births, and ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. Tamoxifen (TMX), a selective estrogen receptor modulator, acts as an agonist on the endometrium. The objective of the present study was to compare the efficacy of low-dose CC, TMX, and gonadotropins in women with thin endometrium (<7 mm) following Clomiphene in intrauterine insemination (IUI) cycles.

The current study investigates the anti-estrogenic potential of the Diarylheptanoid, 5-hydroxy-7-(4-hydroxy-3 methoxyphenyl)-1-phenyl-3-heptanone (DAH) in silico. Rigid Docking analysis of DAH at the ligand binding domain (LBD) of ER α showed hydrogen bond interactions with Arg394 and Glu353 at the active site, similar to the positive controls 4-Hydroxy Tamoxifen (4-OHT) and Fulvestrant (FUL).

Some patients, however, present with and succumb to locally destructive disease. A molecular understanding of these distinct disease manifestations can critically inform patient management.

This study describes the demonstration of quaternized poly(propylene imine) dendrimer of generation-3, QPPI (G3) as a drug carrier for poorly soluble drug nimesulide (NMD, an anti-inflammatory drug). QPPI (G3) was prepared by treating the surface amine groups of poly(propylene imine) dendrimer with glycidyltrimethyl ammonium chloride and it was characterized with FTIR, (1)H and (13)C NMR and MALDI-TOF mass spectral techniques. The drug carrying potential of QPPI (G3) was assessed by analyzing drug solubility, in vitro release and cytotoxicity studies.

Methods: The synthetic pathway involved the hydroxylation and methylation of generation 2 and 3 PPI dendrimers and thus produced surface hydroxylated and internally quaternised PPI dendrimers viz., QPPI-OH (G2) and QPPI-OH (G3), respectively.
In this article, we provide direct evidence that the evolutionarily conserved transcription elongation factor TFIIS functions during preinitiation complex assembly. First, we identified TFIIS in a mass spectrometric screen of RNA polymerase II (Pol II) preinitiation complexes (PICs). Second, we show that the association of TFIIS with a promoter depends on functional PIC components including Mediator and the SAGA complex.

About 50% of Pol II is found associated with the general transcription factor TFIIF (Pol II-TFIIF), and about 20% of Pol II is associated with Mediator (Pol-Med). No Pol II-Med-TFIIF complex was observed.

Therefore, proteins which specifically bind T-antigen have potential diagnostic value. Jacalin, a lectin from jack fruit (Artocarpus integrifolia) seeds, is a tetramer of molecular mass 66kDa.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe seeds of jack fruit (Artocarpus integrifolia) contain two tetrameric lectins, jacalin and artocarpin. Jacalin was the first lectin found to exhibit the beta-prism I fold, which is characteristic of the Moraceae plant lectin family. Jacalin contains two polypeptide chains produced by a post-translational proteolysis which has been shown to be crucial for generating its specificity for galactose.
