: Hypertension is typically classified into two main groups, "dipper" and "non-dipper", based on nocturnal blood pressure decline. The coronary artery calcium score (CACS) is an essential biomarker used to assess the presence and severity of coronary artery disease (CAD). This study aims to demonstrate the relationship between CACS and hypertensive patients with moderate-to-high cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk classified as either dipper or non-dipper.

Suppression of Tumorigenicity 2 (ST2), a member of the interleukin-1 (IL-1) superfamily, is recognized as an important biomarker in inflammatory responses and cardiovascular diseases. Elevated serum levels of sST2 have prognostic value, particularly in cases of cardiac stress such as heart failure and acute pulmonary embolism (APE). We aimed to assess ST2 levels as a potential biomarker for right heart dysfunction in APE patients, particularly in the context of its limited predictive value for mortality and risk stratification.

The effects of a single and multiple doses of ginkgolide A, B, C, and bilobalide, active components of Ginkgo biloba extract (EGb 761), on absence seizures were investigated in male WAG/Rij rats, a genetic animal model of absence epilepsy. Furthermore, the interactions of ginkgolide A together with NMDA receptor antagonist MK-801, AMPA/kainate receptor antagonist 6-cyano-7-nitroquinoxaline-2,3-dione (CNQX), or L-type calcium channel blocker nicardipine were studied to figure out how ginkgolide A affects spike-wave discharges (SWDs) in the brain. The experiments were done using 6-8-month-old male WAG/Rij rats with infusion cannula and EEG electrode implanted.

Thrombotic coronary artery occlusions usually manifest as acute coronary syndrome with cardiogenic shock, acute pulmonary edema, cardiac arrest, fatal arrhythmias, or sudden cardiac death. Although it usually occurs based on atherosclerosis, it can also occur without atherosclerosis. There is no predictor of coronary artery thrombosis clinically and no consensus regarding the optimal treatment.

Galectin-3 is an inflammation biomarker associated with atrial remodeling which plays a role in the development of atrial fibrillation (AF). Atrial high-rate episode (AHRE) is related to development of clinically documented AF and stroke. The present study aimed to determine the relationship between the presence of AHRE and the coronary sinus (CS) serum sampling of galectin-3 levels in the long-term follow-up of cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) patients.

Owing to the rapid development of new electrophysiologic techniques, our understanding of arrhythmias and their underlying mechanisms has reached unprecedented levels. In some cases, baseline ECG alterations can be identified before arrhythmia development; early recognition of these alterations is of utmost importance to start appropriate preventive therapies and stratify the risk according to patients' outcomes. Hereby, we report a systematic revision of main baseline ECG abnormalities and their implications on clinical outcomes.

For long-term patency, a left internal mammary artery (LIMA) graft is considered the gold standard for left anterior descending artery (LAD) revascularization. Subsequent occlusion of a LIMA graft may be related to atherosclerosis, narrowing at anastomotic locations, fixed torsions within the graft, straight tubular stenosis, dissection, or vasospasm. Late thrombotic occlusion of a LIMA, however, is rare, and the cause is not known, though case reports can be found in the literature.

Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is associated with a high incidence of maternal and fetal complications when it develops during pregnancy or the early postpartum period. The pathophysiology involves various factors, including alterations in the vascular wall and hypercoagulability as a result of the hormonal and hemodynamic effects of pregnancy. It frequently occurs due to the development of a thrombus following a ruptured plaque.
