Purpose: To investigate the psychosocial burden during the COVID-19 pandemic in adolescents with type 1 diabetes and its association with metabolic control.

Methods: Prospective multicenter observational cohort study based on data from the German Diabetes Prospective Follow-up Registry. Adolescents aged 12-20 years with type 1 diabetes were asked during routine follow-up visits to complete a questionnaire on psychosocial distress and daily use of electronic media during the COVID-19 pandemic from June 2021 to November 2022.

Aim: The aim of this cross-sectional retrospective study was to estimate the prevalence of different physical and psychiatric disorders as well as multimorbidity in outpatients with type 1 diabetes (T1D) in Germany.

Methods: A total of 6967 adult patients with T1D from 958 general or diabetologist practices in Germany between January 2015 and December 2019 from the Disease Analyzer database (IQVIA) were included. The main outcome of the study was the prevalence of different diabetes-related and nondiabetes-related disorders within 12 months prior to the last outpatient visit.

Deficiency of the sulfide metabolizing protein ETHE1 is the cause of ethylmalonic encephalopathy (EE), an inherited and severe metabolic disorder. To study the molecular effects of EE, we performed a proteomics study on mitochondria from cultured patient fibroblast cells. Samples from six patients were analyzed and revealed seven differentially regulated proteins compared with healthy controls.
