Metabolic reprogramming, the shifting from fatty acid oxidation to glucose utilization, improves cardiac function as heart failure (HF) progresses. Leptin plays an essential role in regulating glucose metabolism. However, the crosstalk between leptin and metabolic reprogramming is poorly understood.

The bacterium is able to invade lung epithelial cells and survive intracellularly. During this process, it secretes outer membrane vesicles (OMVs), however, it is currently unclear how OMVs from (PA-OMVs) affect lung epithelial cells and their impact on oxidative stress, autophagy, and other physiological activities of lung epithelial cells. In this study, we found that PA-OMVs activated oxidative stress and autophagy in cells.

Dyslipidemia affects approximately half of all people with gout, and prior Mendelian randomization analysis suggested a causal role for elevated triglycerides in hyperuricemia (HU), but the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. We hypothesize that dyslipidemia promotes hepatic urate biosynthesis in HU and gout and fatty acid (FA) oxidation (FAO) drives this process. Here we developed a targeted metabolomics to quantify major metabolites in purine metabolic pathway in the sera of a human cohort with HU, gout, and normaluricemic controls.

Purpose: Glucose starvation induces the accumulation of disulfides and F-actin collapse in cells with high expression of SLC7A11, a phenomenon termed disulfidptosis. This study aimed to confirm the existence of disulfidptosis in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) and elucidate the role of Cancer Susceptibility 8 (CASC8) in this process.

Methods: The existence of disulfidptosis in PDAC was assessed using flow cytometry and F-actin staining.

Background: Currently, there is limited research on the impact of abdominal infection on intestinal damage under microgravity conditions. Cordyceps polysaccharide (CPS), the main active ingredient of Cordyceps, has demonstrated various pharmacological effects, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and immunomodulatory properties. Moxifloxacin (MXF) is a fourth-generation quinolone antibiotic that is believed to have a dual regulatory effect on immune system activation and suppression.

Due to the development of the petroleum industry, more severe mining conditions put forward higher corrosion resistance requirements for materials. In this paper, the corrosion resistance and corrosion behavior of four TC4-xNi-yNb (x, y = 0, 0.5) alloys were investigated in a 1 mol/L HCl solution through microscopic characterization, electrochemical tests and corrosion weight loss testing.

(1) Background: Global climate change is intensifying, and the vigorous development and utilization of saline-alkali land is of great significance. As an important economic aquatic species in the context of saline-alkali aquaculture, it is highly significant to explore the regulatory mechanisms of under alkaline conditions. In particular, the brain (cerebral ganglion for crustaceans) serves as a vital regulatory organ in response to environmental stress; (2) Methods: In this study, a comparative transcriptome approach was employed to investigate the key regulatory genes and molecular regulatory mechanisms in the cerebral ganglion of under alkaline stress.

Leaf senescence is a complex developmental process that is regulated by multiple genetic and environmental factors. Understanding the mechanisms underlying the regulation of leaf senescence will provide valuable insights for manipulation of this trait in crops. Here, we report that the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter OsPDR1 is involved in promoting leaf senescence in rice.

Objectives: To evaluate the value of ultrasound (US) and shear wave velocity (SWV) to assess muscle in postmenopausal women with osteosarcopenia (OSP).

Methods: This study included 145 postmenopausal women, comprising 115 osteopenia/osteoporosis participants without sarcopenia (OP alone) and 30 OSP participants. All received the evaluation of bone mineral density (BMD), appendicular skeletal muscle mass index (ASMI), handgrip strength, calf circumference, 6-meter walking speed, and 5-time chair stand test.

Background: Apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (AHCM) is a subtype of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). The expression level of high-sensitive cardiac troponin T (hs-cTNT) and N-terminal pro-BNP (NT-proBNP) in AHCM patients, and these relationships between echocardiography parameters were still unclear.

Methods: We retrospectively screened AHCM patients between January 2019 and December 2021 in Zhongshan Hospital Fudan University.

Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) is a major contributor to chronic back pain and disability, with limited effective therapeutic options. Current treatment options, including conservative management and surgical interventions, often fail to effectively halt disease progression and come with notable side effects. IVDD is characterized by the breakdown of the extracellular matrix (ECM) and the infiltration of inflammatory cells, which exacerbate disc degeneration.

PANoptosis is a novelly defined mode of programmed cell death that involves the activation of multiple cellular death pathways, including pyroptosis, apoptosis, and necroptosis, triggering robust inflammatory reactions. Autophagy is a crucial cellular process that maintains cellular homeostasis and protects cells from various stresses. PANoptosis and autophagy, both vital players in the intricate pathological progression of ischemic stroke (IS), a brain ailment governed by intricate cell death cascades, have garnered attention in recent years for their potential interplay.

Purpose: This study aims to examine how government fiscal and tax incentives facilitate the development and application of green technologies, promoting corporate environmental responsibility and improving public health and hygiene.

Methods: The study utilizes empirical data from listed enterprises in the new energy automobile industry between 2018 and 2023. A multiple regression model is used to assess the effects of government subsidies and tax incentives on green technological innovation and enterprise growth, controlling for various factors such as enterprise size and R&D investment.

Background: Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) is an enzyme crucial for energy and protein metabolism in muscle cells. Despite this, its association with sarcopenia remains inadequately explored. This study aims to investigate the correlation between serum levels of ALT-related indicators (ALT activity, ALT1, ALT2, and ALT1/ALT2 ratio) and sarcopenia measures, as well as to develop a diagnostic model for sarcopenia in older individuals.

Background: The prognostic prediction of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) remains challenging. This study aimed to develop a radiomics model to predict Ki-67 expression status in PDAC patients using radiomics features from dual-phase enhanced CT, and integrated clinical characteristics to create a radiomics-clinical nomogram for prognostic prediction.

Methods: In this retrospective study, data were collected from 124 PDAC patients treated surgically at a single center, from January 2017 to March 2023.

Aleutian mink disease (mink plasmacytosis) is a severe immune complex-mediated condition caused by the Aleutian Mink Disease Virus (AMDV), the most significant pathogen affecting mink health in the industry. Several studies have shown that AMDV epidemics can result in millions to tens of millions of dollars in economic losses worldwide each year. In this study, we developed a TaqMan probe-based real-time PCR technology (TaqMan-qPCR) for the specific, sensitive, and reproducible detection and quantification of AMDV in mink tissues by the VP2 gene, achieving detection limits as low as 1.

Liver cancer, specifically hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), stands out as one of the most formidable solid tumors, characterized by a dauntingly low survival rate. At the forefront of the tumor microenvironment (TME) orchestrating the initiation and advancement of HCC are cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs). TGF-β, widely recognized as a potent activator of CAFs, not only regulates their activity but also assumes a pivotal role in the metastatic journey of the tumor.
