Rapid and sustained disinfection of surfaces is necessary to check the spread of pathogenic microbes. The current study proposes a method of synthesis and use of copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) for contact disinfection of pathogenic microorganisms. Polyphenol stabilized CuNPs were synthesized by successive reductive disassembly and reassembly of copper phenolic complexes.

We have systematically studied the effects of substitutional doping of p-type nanoparticulate NiO with cobalt ions. Thin films of pure and Co-doped NiO nanoparticles with nominal compositions Co(x)Ni(1-x)O(y) (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.1) were fabricated using sol-gel method.

Exploring new p-type semiconductor nanoparticles alternative to the commonly used NiO is crucial for p-type dye-sensitized solar cells (p-DSSCs) to achieve higher open-circuit voltages (Voc). Here we report the first application of delafossite CuGaO2 nanoplates for p-DSSCs with high photovoltages. In contrast to the dark color of NiO, our CuGaO2 nanoplates are white.

We present a systematic investigation of the fundamental effects of an atomically deposited alumina (AlO(x)H(y)) onto the NiO films in p-type dye-sensitized solar cells (p-DSCs). With P1 as the sensitizing dye and 0.1 M I(2) and 1.
