Case: This case demonstrates a 2-year-old boy with a rare benign supraclavicular mass diagnosed as neuromuscular choristoma through open biopsy. Postoperatively, he underwent semiannual surveillance with ultrasound without development of neurological complaints, limb deformity, or recurrence at 2-year follow-up.

Conclusion: Neuromuscular choristoma involving the brachial plexus is a rare tumor that should be in the differential diagnosis of pediatric peripheral nerve-based tumors.

Herein we describe the application of Lewis-acid-catalyzed carbonyl-olefin metathesis toward the synthesis of substituted tetrahydropyridines from commercially available amino acids as chiral pool reagents. This strategy relies on FeCl as an inexpensive and environmentally benign catalyst and enables access to a variety of substituted tetrahydropyridines under mild reaction conditions. The reaction proceeds with complete stereoretention and is viable for a variety of natural and unnatural amino acids to provide the corresponding tetrahydropyridines in up to 99% yield.

Multiple myeloma can have different clinical manifestations, and not all patients present with classic CRAB component. We describe a 46-year-old woman admitted to our hospital with a complaint of a bluish-to-black discoloration of the second toe that was rapidly progressive and acute kidney injury. We documented a Kappa light chain monoclonal gammopathy, increased presence of plasmacytes in bone marrow aspiration, and multiple lytic bone lesions, which led to a diagnosis of multiple myeloma.
