Background: Hereditary angioedema (HAE) is a rare genetic disease characterized by recurrent episodes of cutaneous or subcutaneous edema. There is clinical need for treatments that reduce the rate of HAE attacks in patients.
Objectives: Primary objectives were to evaluate the effectiveness of lanadelumab on attack free rate (AFR; proportion of patients who had zero HAE attacks), and on every two weeks (Q2W) and every four weeks (Q4W) adjustments on AFR.
Aim: The Health outcomes and Understanding of MyelomA multi-National Study (HUMANS) was a large-scale, retrospective study conducted across Denmark, Finland and Sweden using linked data from national registries. We describe the characteristics, treatment patterns and clinical outcomes for patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM) over 2010-2018.
Methods: Patients with NDMM who received MM-specific, first-line treatments, were categorised by treatment (autologous stem cell transplantation [ASCT] or a combination chemotherapy regimen based on bortezomib, lenalidomide or melphalan-prednisolone-thalidomide).
Background: In multiple myeloma (MM), improving our understanding of routine clinical practice and the effectiveness of agents outside of clinical trials is important. TOURMALINE-MM1 data resulted in approval of ixazomib for MM patients who have received ≥ 1 prior therapy.
Patients And Methods: UVEA-IXA comprised a retrospective chart review in the early access program, and a prospective 1-year follow-up period.
Classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) is curable in 90% of cases, but advanced stage patients who do not respond well to first-line (1L) therapy have poorer outcomes. This retrospective study examines patient characteristics, treatment patterns, clinical outcomes, and safety management of 1L cHL therapies in common clinical practice in Italy (IT), Israel (IL), and Spain (SP). The overall sample ( = 256) included patients with stage IIb to IV cHL, of which 86.

The objective of this study was to describe the treatment patterns and outcomes in CTCL patients who were refractory or had relapsed (R/R) after a systemic therapy. A retrospective chart review study was conducted at 27 sites in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom (UK) of patients who received a first course of systemic therapy and relapsed or were refractory.

A total of 32 observational studies reporting on treatment patterns, overall response rate (ORR), complete response (CR) rate, progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), and adverse events were found. After four cycles, a random-effect model yielded pooled ORR and CR rates of 62.

The objective of this study was to describe treatment patterns and outcomes in non-transplant NDMM in four European countries.
Methods: This retrospective chart review included adults with NDMM diagnosed between January 1, 2012, and December 31, 2013 (early cohort), or April 1, 2016, and March 31, 2017 (recent cohort).
Primary aldosteronism (PA) is a potentially reversible cause of uncontrolled hypertension. Early diagnosis and timely management of PA can prevent end-organ damage. Aldosteronoma Resolution Score (ARS) is a useful tool to predict cure rates and resolution of hypertension after adrenalectomy.

Adrenal myelolipomas (AMLs) are rare benign adrenal tumors, containing adipose and hematopoietic tissue, a result of reticuloendothelial cell metaplasia. Incidence on autopsy has been reported from 0.08% to 0.

It can lead to rapid progressive visual deterioration with retinal pathology ranging from retinitis pigmentosa to retinal degeneration. It is caused by antibodies directed against retinal antigens.

Methods: Double-blind, parallel-group, international, randomised, non-inferiority trial. More than half of the 196 participating centres were primary care centres.
The example of the analysis of a collection of trials in diabetes consisting of a sparsely connected network of 10 treatments is used to make some points about approaches to analysis. In particular various graphical and tabular presentations, both of the network and of the results are provided and the connection to the literature of incomplete blocks is made. It is clear from this example that is inappropriate to treat the main effect of trial as random and the implications of this for analysis are discussed.

Results: Bifidobacterium semi-quantitative counts were compared using PCR-RFLP and real-time PCR. B.
Aims: The potential use of bifidobacteria as indicators for faecal contamination was studied along a sheep meat production and processing chain. The levels of bifidobacteria were compared with those of Escherichia coli. Total viable counts were followed along the chain (244 samples).

The microbial community in the human colon contains bacteria that reduce cholesterol to coprostanol, but the species responsible for this conversion are still unknown. We describe here the first isolation and characterization of a cholesterol-reducing bacterium of human intestinal origin. Strain D8 was isolated from a 10(-8) dilution of a fresh stool sample provided by a senior male volunteer with a high capacity to reduce luminal cholesterol to coprostanol.

They are part of a phenotypic group comprising 141 strains isolated from raw milk and raw milk cheeses in French raw milk cheese factories. This group was separated by a numerical analysis based on API 50CH, API 32A tests and growth at 46 degrees C.

The first isolate, strain SDG-Mt85-3Db, was a mesophilic strictly anaerobic Gram-positive helically coiled rod. Based on 16S r RNA gene sequence analysis, its nearest relatives were Clostridium cocleatum (96.

Bacterial strains were identified to species by phenotypic numerical classification based on API 50CH and ID 32A tests and DNA-DNA hybridization. Bifidobacterium pseudolongum was present in 81% (99 of 122 samples) of all Bifidobacterium-positive fecal samples and predominated in samples from all animal species except those from swine from Austria.

As they form one of the most important groups in both human and animal feces, their use as fecal indicator organisms in raw milk products has recently been proposed. Bifidobacteria species isolated in humans are different from those isolated in animals.

The effect of thermal treatment on the heat resistance of Bacillus cereus spores and their ability to germinate and grow under more or less adverse conditions during sporulation was investigated. Spores produced by sporulating cells subjected to a mild heat treatment (at a temperature 15 degrees C higher than the growth temperature) were more resistant to heat than were spores produced by untreated cells. Spore germination and growth (the lag time, the maximal growth rate, and the occurrence of a decrease in population) may be greatly affected by adverse environmental conditions brought about by the addition of nisin, low temperatures, acidic pHs, and, to a lesser extent, the addition of NaCl.

Methods And Results: Medium acidification and NaCl supplementation induced a marked increase in the lag and growth times (up to fivefold higher) and a decrease in the maximal optical density. Due to a strong synergic effect of pH and NaCl, growth was only detected after 280 h incubation for Scott A and not detected after 600 h for LO28 at pH 5.
