Magnitude and antimicrobial susceptibility profile of bacteria isolated from pediatric sepsis cases at University of Gondar Hospital, Northwest Ethiopia.

Background: Sepsis is one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality among pediatric patients throughout the world. The varying microbiological pattern of sepsis warrants the need for researches on the causative organisms and their antimicrobial susceptibility pattern. The epidemiology of neonatal and pediatric sepsis in Ethiopia is under-research.

Use and Conservation of Medicinal Plants by Indigenous People of Gozamin Wereda, East Gojjam Zone of Amhara Region, Ethiopia: An Ethnobotanical Approach.

An ethnobotanical study of medicinal plants (MPs) used by the local community has been carried out from January 5, 2014, to February 15, 2015, in Gozamin Wereda of East Gojjam Zone, Ethiopia. The purpose of this study was to identify and document the use and conservation of MPs, along with indigenous knowledge of Gozamin community. Data were collected using semistructured interview, field observation, and focus group discussions.

A new focus of schistosomiasis mansoni in Hayk town, northeastern Ethiopia.

Background: The endemicity of human schistosomiasis has long been established in Ethiopia, and new foci have also been continuously reported.The objective of this study was to determine the transmission and magnitude of schistosomiasis in Hayk area, northeastern Ethiopia.

Methods: A cross sectional parasitological survey involving 384 school children was conducted for intestinal schistosomiasis between January and March 2010 in two primary schools in Hayk area, northeastern Ethiopia.
