Clonal hematopoiesis (CH) arises when a substantial proportion of mature blood cells is derived from a single hematopoietic stem cell lineage. It is considered to be a premalignant state that predisposes individuals to an increased risk of cancers. Recently, emerging evidence has demonstrated a strong association between CH and both the incidence and mortality of cardiovascular diseases (CVD), with the relative risks being comparable to those attributed to traditional cardiovascular risk factors.

Machine learning for early diagnosis of Kawasaki disease in acute febrile children: retrospective cross-sectional study in China.

Early diagnosis of Kawasaki disease (KD) allows timely treatment to be initiated, thereby preventing coronary artery aneurysms in children. However, it is challenging due to the subjective nature of the diagnostic criteria. This study aims to develop a machine learning prediction model using routine blood tests to distinguish children with KD from other febrile illnesses in Chinese children within the first five days of fever onset.

Aims: This study aimed to explore relationships between visit-to-visit lipid variability, coronary artery calcification (CAC), inflammation, and long-term mortality, which may be prognostically relevant.

Methods: This prospective cohort study included participants from the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis with available plasma low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), total cholesterol (TC), and triglycerides from all three initial exams who underwent computed tomography CAC quantification at the third (index) exam. Visit-to-visit variability (coefficient of variation) was calculated from all three initial exams.

Background: The triple-negative subtype of breast cancer is particularly challenging to treat due to its aggressiveness with a high risk of brain metastasis, and the lack of effective targeted therapies. Therefore, reporting FELs in a core needle biopsy (CNB) with limited tissue material can be challenging as not all the features may be represented for assessment.

The impact of new-onset atrial fibrillation in the setting of acute coronary syndrome.

Approximately 10 % of patients who have suffered from myocardial infarction develop new-onset atrial fibrillation (AF). Coronary artery disease implicating atrial branches has been associated with AF. The following variables have been associated with new-onset AF in the setting of acute coronary syndrome: older age, history of hypertension, history of angina, history of stroke, chronic renal failure, body mass index, no statin use, worse nutritional status, worse Killip class, admission heart rate ≥ 85 bpm, complete atrioventricular block, Glasgow prognostic score, Syntax score, CHEST score > 3, PRECISE-DAPT score ≥ 25, left ventricular ejection fraction ≤40 %, increased left atrial diameter, E/E' ratio > 12, epicardial fat tissue thickness, and thrombolysis in myocardial infarction flow < 3.

This study compared the diagnostic performance between the point-of-care high-sensitivity cardiac troponin I assay (Siemens Healthineers Atellica VTLi) and a laboratory high-sensitivity cardiac troponin I assay (Abbott ARCHITECT STAT High Sensitive Troponin-I) performed using blood samples from various populations (overall, male, female, younger and older) of Chinese patients with chest pain.

This meta-analysis aims to evaluate the bleeding risk of concomitant use of OACs and NSAIDs, and to make comparisons between different OACs types.

Introduction: Urine cytology is robust for the diagnosis of urothelial lesions, but data on the detection rates of prostatic adenocarcinoma in urine cytology is limited. In this study, a multicenter review was performed to define the clinical role of urine cytology in diagnosis of prostatic adenocarcinoma.
