The influence of cryopreservation of cancellous bone at different temperatures and different storage periods was investigated for mechanical changes. Standardized cancellous cylinders (50 x 25 mm) were stored at -20 degrees C or -80 degrees C for 6 or 12 months, respectively, or for 2 years and then subjected to a screw pull-out test. No significant differences were found among the various storage temperatures and periods investigated.
