Despite the health benefits of parks and outdoor recreational spaces, small numbers of older people visit parks. This study identified older park visitors' perceptions of their local parks, visit motivation, health, and physical activity level in six parks in Victoria, Australia. We present a framework in which the transition between a many-body localized (MBL) phase and an ergodic one is symmetry breaking. We consider random Floquet spin chains, expressing their averaged spectral form factor (SFF) as a function of time in terms of a transfer matrix that acts in the space direction. The SFF is determined by the leading eigenvalues of this transfer matrix.

We study the decay mechanism of the gapped lowest-lying axial excitation of a quasipure atomic Bose-Einstein condensate confined in a cylindrical box trap. Owing to the absence of accessible lower-energy modes, or direct coupling to an external bath, this excitation is protected against one-body (linear) decay, and the damping mechanism is exclusively nonlinear. We develop a universal theoretical model that explains this fundamentally nonlinear damping as a process whereby two quanta of the gapped lowest excitation mode couple to a higher-energy mode, which subsequently decays into a continuum.

UK Biobank is a population-based cohort of half a million participants aged 40-69 years recruited between 2006 and 2010. In 2014, UK Biobank started the world's largest multi-modal imaging study, with the aim of re-inviting 100,000 participants to undergo brain, cardiac and abdominal magnetic resonance imaging, dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry and carotid ultrasound. The combination of large-scale multi-modal imaging with extensive phenotypic and genetic data offers an unprecedented resource for scientists to conduct health-related research.

Background Ultrasound imaging is able to quantify carotid arterial wall structure for the assessment of cerebral and cardiovascular disease risks. We describe a protocol and quality assurance process to enable carotid imaging at large scale that has been developed for the UK Biobank Imaging Enhancement Study of 100,000 individuals. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and the risk of progression to steatohepatitis, cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma have been identified as major public health concerns. We have demonstrated the feasibility and potential value of measuring liver fat content by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in a large population in this study of 4,949 participants (aged 45-73 years) in the UK Biobank imaging enhancement. Despite requirements for only a single (≤3min) scan of each subject, liver fat was able to be measured as the MRI proton density fat fraction (PDFF) with an overall success rate of 96.

Background: UK Biobank's ambitious aim is to perform cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) in 100,000 people previously recruited into this prospective cohort study of half a million 40-69 year-olds.

Methods/design: We describe the CMR protocol applied in UK Biobank's pilot phase, which will be extended into the main phase with three centres using the same equipment and protocols. The CMR protocol includes white blood CMR (sagittal anatomy, coronary and transverse anatomy), cine CMR (long axis cines, short axis cines of the ventricles, coronal LVOT cine), strain CMR (tagging), flow CMR (aortic valve flow) and parametric CMR (native T1 map).

Reactions of iridium(fluoroalkyl)hydride complexes CpIr(PMe(3))(CF(2)R(F))Y (R(F) = F, CF(3); Y = H, D) with LutHX (Lut = 2,6-dimethylpyridine; X = Cl, I) results in C-F activation coupled with hydride migration to give CpIr(PMe(3))(CYFR(F))X as variable mixtures of diastereomers. Solution conformations and relative diastereomer configurations of the products have been determined by (19)F{(1)H}HOESY NMR to be (S(C), S(Ir))(R(C), R(Ir)) for the kinetic diastereomer and (R(C), S(Ir))(S(C), R(Ir)) for its thermodynamic counterpart. Isotope labeling experiments using LutDCl/CpIr(PMe(3))(CF(2)R(F))H and CpIr(PMe(3))(CF(2)R(F))D/LutHCl) showed that, unlike a previously studied system, H/D exchange is faster than protonation of the alpha-CF bond, giving an identical mixture of product isotopologues from both reaction mixtures.

Half-sandwich complexes [RhCl(pymox)Cp*][SbF(6)](1-7)(pymox = pyridyloxazoline) have been synthesised as single diastereomers. Treatment of these with AgSbF(6) generates dications [Rh(OH(2))(pymox)Cp*](2+) which are fluxional at room temperature and which are enantioselective catalysts for the Diels-Alder reaction of methacrolein and cyclopentadiene. Treatment of the dication [Rh(OH(2))((i)Pr-pymox)Cp*](2+) with [X](-) gives [RhX((i)Pr-pymox)Cp*][SbF(6)](X = Br, I) as single diastereomers whilst reaction with 4-Mepy (4-methylpyridine) gives [Rh(4-Mepy)((i)Pr-pymox)Cp*][SbF(6)] as a mixture of diastereomers.
