ATRP catalysts of tetradentate guanidine ligands - do guanidine donors induce a faster atom transfer?

Tripodal tetradentate N donor ligands stabilise the most active ATRP catalyst systems. Here, we set out to synthesise the new guanidine ligand TMG-4NMeuns-penp, inspired by -substituted tris(2-pyridylmethyl)amine (TPMA) ligands. The impact of changing pyridine against guanidine donors was examined through solid state and solution experiments and density functional theory (DFT) calculations.

Understanding the structure-activity relationship and performance of highly active novel ATRP catalysts.

Copper bromide complexes based on a series of substituted guanidine-quinolinyl and -pyridinyl ligands are reported. The ligand systems were chosen based on the large variation with regard to their flexibility in the backbone, different guanidine moieties and influence by electron density donating groups. Relationships between the molecular structures and spectroscopic and electronic properties are described.

Sterically Crowded Tris(2-(trimethylsilyl)phenyl)phosphine - Is it Still a Ligand?

Tris(2-(trimethylsilyl)phenyl)phosphine, P(o-TMSC H ) , was synthesised and characterised in solution and in the solid state. The large steric bulk prevents most reactions of the phosphorus donor and makes the compound air stable both in the solid state as well as in solution. This shielded phosphine can still undergo three reactions, namely protonation, oxidation to the phosphine oxide under harsh conditions and complexation to Au , thus forming a complex with linear coordination.

Isolation of antibacterial protein from spp. and preparation of probiotic curd.

Effect of different preservative treatments on the shelf-life of sorghum malt based fermented milk beverage.

Studies were conducted to extend the shelf life of sorghum based fermented milk beverage (referred to SSL) developed at our Institute. In the first approach preservatives namely nisin (N) @ 400RU/ml, MicroGARD (M) @ (1%), potassium sorbate (PS) @ (0.15%) were added to the beverage before packaging and in the second approach thermization (65 °C/5 min) of the packaged samples containing above mentioned preservatives was adopted.

Characterization and optimization of conditions for biodegradation of sella-rice mill effluent.

The sella-rice mill effluent is a major environmental pollutant requiring proper treatment before disposal. The present study has been conducted to isolate and characterize micro-organisms capable of growing on sella-rice effluent and to optimize conditions for its rapid bioremediation. Using three different types of media (LB, YEPDA and PDA), a total of 139 isolates were isolated from effluent samples collected from three different locations.
