Background: Physical activity is recognized as beneficial for older individuals in preventing falls. Achieving high adherence to exercise programs among the elderly poses challenges for administrations and healthcare systems. This study explored the facilitators and barriers perceived by both the participants and nurse trainers involved in an exercise program aimed at preventing falls in primary healthcare.

The impact of EHC on area under the curve (AUC) has been a topic of extensive debate, questioning the suitability of conventional AUC estimation methods. Moreover, a universal model for accurately estimating AUC in EHC scenarios is lacking.

Homozygous null mutations in CD247 lead to immunodeficiency, while carriers exhibit 50% reduced surface CD3. It is unclear whether carriers of other CD247 variants show dominant-negative effects.

This case report analyzes the immune response to mRNA COVID-19 two-dose primary vaccination followed by three boosters in an IEI patient with marked CD4 T-cell cytopenia and diminished thymic output, in comparison with that raised against latent, chronic cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection. Serum IgG antibodies anti-spike (S) protein of SARS-CoV-2 and anti-CMV were both determined by chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassays (CMIAs).

Methods: We analysed a cohort of 959 women with early breast cancer, mostly treated with neoadjuvant or adjuvant chemotherapy. Clinical and pathological data, survival, NLR (continuous and categorical) and stromal tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (sTIL) were evaluated.
During cancer evolution, tumor cells attract and dynamically interact with monocytes/macrophages. To find biomarkers of disease progression in human melanoma, we used unbiased RNA sequencing and secretome analyses of tumor-macrophage co-cultures. Pathway analysis of genes differentially modulated in human macrophages exposed to melanoma cells revealed a general upregulation of inflammatory hallmark gene sets, particularly chemokines.

Carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRPs) are interesting materials due to their excellent properties, such as their high strength-to-weight ratio, low thermal expansion, and high fatigue resistance. However, to meet the requirements for their assembly, the drilling processes involved should be optimized. Defects such as delamination, dimensional errors and poor internal surface finish can lead to the premature failure of parts when bolt-joined or rivet-connected.

The aim of this study was to investigate the predictive and prognostic value of sTIL in early luminal BC. The study was performed with an observational design in a prospective cohort of 345 patients with predominantly high-risk luminal (hormone receptor positive, HER2 negative) BC and with luminal B features ( = 286), in which the presence of sTIL was analyzed with validated methods.

Background: Up to 30% of breast cancer (BC) patients treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NCT) will relapse. Our objective was to analyze the predictive capacity of several markers associated with immune response and cell proliferation combined with clinical parameters.
Methods: This was a single-center, retrospective cohort study of BC patients treated with NCT (2001-2010), in whom pretreatment biomarkers were analyzed: neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in peripheral blood, CD3+ tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs), and gene expression of AURKA, MYBL2 and MKI67 using qRT-PCR.
Objective: Nintedanib is an oral tyrosine kinase inhibitor targeting, among others, vascular endothelial growth factor receptor. The aim was to establish the role of nintedanib in addition to paclitaxel and carboplatin in first-line recurrent/metastatic cervical cancer.
Methods: Double-blind phase II randomized study in patients with first-line recurrent or primary advanced (FIGO stage IVB) cervical cancer.
Much attention has been paid to the health benefits of including fruits and vegetables in the diet. However, for the compounds responsible for this beneficial effect to be effective at the level of the human organism, they must be available for absorption after digestion. In this sense, in vivo studies are needed to demonstrate the bioavailability of these compounds and their physiological activity.

Considering the high content of nutrients and other bioactive compounds in many of them, investigating their suitability for use as human food ingredients is an interesting challenge. Methods: We designed a phase II clinical trial to assess the efficacy of ketoconazole in advanced GCT and conducted several in vitro studies to support the clinical findings.
The large amount of waste generated by the orange juice industry has sparked the interest of many researchers in incorporating recycling systems and following a much more sustainable circular economy model. This work proposes the valorization of the co-product generated in the orange juice extraction industry after freeze-drying for its subsequent reuse as a natural ingredient in the food industry. In addition, the possible protective effect of gum Arabic and corn starch esterified with octenyl succinic groups, in proportions optimised in previous studies 0.

This study focuses on the valorization of the co-product resulting from the extraction of orange juice to offer it as a versatile, healthy, high-quality, and stable natural food ingredient in powder form. To this end, the vitamin C (VC) content (ascorbic and dehydroascorbic acid, AA and DHAA), major flavonoids (hesperidin and narirutin, HES and NAT), and techno-functional properties (angle of repose, AoR; hygroscopicity and wettability; density and porosity; mean particle size, MPS; water retention capacity, WRC; oil holding capacity, ORC; emulsifying and foaming capacity, EC and FC; and emulsion and foam stability, ES and FS) have been characterized.

The abnormal responses to La/SSB and Ro/SSA of both B-cells and T-cells are implicated as well as others, in the destruction of the epithelium of the exocrine glands, whose tissue characteristically shows a peri-epithelial lymphocytic infiltration that can vary from sicca syndrome to systemic disease and lymphoma. Despite the appearance of new autoantibodies, anti-Ro/SSA is still the only autoantibody included in the American College of Rheumatology/European League Against Rheumatism (ACR/EULAR) classification criteria and is used extensively as a traditional biomarker in clinical practice.

Although phenols can be found in free form (FP) or bound to plant tissues (BP), the experimental methodology most frequently used for the quantification of total phenols (TP) is based on the extraction of a portion of FP, which may justify the lack of correlation often found between them and AOA. In this context, four successive extractions were performed to obtain FP and BP of powdered orange juice by-product, and their contribution to the AOA was studied.

The main focus of this multicenter, retrospective, observational study was to examine the prevalence of falls in Spanish people aged 65-80 years still living at home. The secondary aims included examining the overall sociodemographic and clinical variables associated with a history of falls and then stratifying these findings by sex.

Background: The scientific evidence highlights the difficulties that healthcare professionals experience when managing patients with chronic pain. One of the causes of this difficulty could be related to the acquired training and the lack of knowledge about the neurophysiology of pain. In the present study, we assessed the effectiveness of a gamified web platform in acquiring knowledge about pain neurophysiology and determining the satisfaction and motivation of students of the Degree in Physiotherapy at the University of Lleida.

The onset of this syndrome is characterized by persistent fever that is associated with lethargy, abdominal pain, vomiting and/or diarrhea, and, less frequently, rash and conjunctivitis. The course and severity of the signs and symptoms vary; in some children, MIS-C worsens rapidly and can lead to hypotension, cariogenic shock, or even damage to multiple organs.
